Conquistador is not available in some regions, it's not available to vote for in those regions, so it doesn't have a good chance.

Is this why US voters only had two options in yesterday afternoon's vote? Was wondering why we only had two choices...

Buy it. Reward a great game for unique design. It takes a while to warm up to it but it's a heck of a game.

Done. Not sure when I'll get to it, but hoping I agree with the vast majority of people who enjoyed it.

Yeah that was odd. I wonder if the voting is for the entire steam population or per area. If it's the entire population then yeah... a game that's not available to vote on in certain areas doesn't have a chance in hell. But if it's per area I'm not sure why they wouldn't put a different game in there for those areas.

WTF steam

Dirt 3 - Yeah or Nay?

I bit on it. Note that you can get Dirt2, Dirt3, and Showdown for $12.50, but I already had Dirt2, and Showdown just doesn't look like a good game. But if you wanted both it and Dirt3, it's a great deal.

I was a bit annoyed to read in the Steam FAQs that if you buy a bundle with a game you already own, you almost never get a second copy to gift...

I really hope Expeditions wins. I've had a lot of interest in it since it came out and was one of the few games that I really wanted to pick up during this sale if it received a good discount.

That's some bullshit right there. You paid for something, but you don't get it? What if I buy a game I already have without a bundle? They just take my money and give me nothing? I know they wouldn't, just making a point. They should fix the bundle issue. And of course, I recognize that complaining about it here does nothing, but if anyone here has experienced this you should raise hell with Valve, on their forums or directly with their customer service.

Edit: As Dankk pointed out, it's likely based on what the publishers want, not Valve, so never mind that last bit.

Looks interesting. I always get a bit of an uncomfortable laugh out of games that have you playing as a murderous (worse, really, in reality) "expedition" that destroyed a native civilization searching for riches, but in this case, for some reason, it only makes it that much more interesting since I've never seen it in this context before. I voted for it and will likely grab it if it wins.

I disagree.

The bundle price is usually much lower, and is priced to be sold as a bundle. If you're paying $1 per game and you already have one, that's life. If they let you gift out games to other people, the bundle would be priced higher.

This is similar to complaining that the price has dropped after you bought a game 6 months ago. I paid $60 for just the core Fallout 3 but now you can get it for $5 for with all the DLC! You bastards!

I did the kickstarter for Conquistador so I already have it (though I voted for it anyway) but I haven't gotten a chance to really play it much yet.

No, don't waste your time and try to "raise hell" with Valve. It's not Valve's fault. Rather, it's a matter of publisher agreements and contracts. When you buy bundles, and you don't get extra copies of games you already own, it's because the publisher doesn't allow it. Ask the publisher why this is. Not Valve.

I'm sure Valve would love to change this, as it's one of people's most complained-about issues with Steam. The fact that they haven't "fixed it" is because they don't really have much control over it.

I can see your point re: the bundle being all or nothing, but if I already own one or more of the games, I don't see how it hurts them to let me gift the ones I already own. So I can guess we can agree to disagree on that. I don't see how buying something now vs. later for different prices has anything to do with this. I'm not complaining about the price, just about buying something I don't actually get. In any event, thankfully I haven't had this issue yet, so much ado about nothing I suppose.

Fair enough. I hadn't considered publisher specifications. I retract the "raise hell with Valve" statement, but I still don't like it.

Logged in and got my second booster pack today, for Grid 2.

Just hit lvl 20, all paid for via cards sold early at a high price; hoping to have the 40% booster pack drop give me some funds for games (over time).

Looks like there are around 30,000+ of each summer sale card, so I'm doubting the price will ever go back up, even after the sale... that is a lot of cards on the market.

Yeah, I'm not going to complain to Valve...I just voted with my wallet, and bought one game instead of three...

Valve does this even with Valve games, like when you buy L4D/2, then buy a 4 pack. You lose one from the 4 pack.

Anyways, bought my first game of the sale...Antichamber! Hope its good...

BUTTHEADS!

Risen 2 got piss poor reviews compared to the other two, on top of which they look more interesting anyways.

Am hoping Grid 2 goes on sale. The core game is too darn expensive plus they want 5 bucks a pop for a buttload of add-ons which you know damn well should have been in the core game anyways. Rats.

I'm pretty sure that next summer will just see the second series of summer getaway cards.

The first series cards will be expensive at that point. Everyone will eventually get a level 5 badge if they care to, and they won't have to spend money explicitly on cards.

What kind of retard pays money for these cards? I have sold all of mine for about .20 each.

Kudos to valve for figuring out a way to get people to give them money for garbage.

Hmm, Dead Island GOTY edition is $5. Is this game any good in single player or do you really need to play co-op?

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Valve basically buys licenses in bulk from publishers. It will depend on whether they pay flat rate/'commission' and up front/over time, but if Valve wanted to give free copies of already owned bundled games, I think they could.

If Valve paid for their licenses up front or negotiated a flat rate, the publisher then actually would see zero impact from free copies of the game going out, they're off the hook financially. The only semi-tangible impact would be the perceived value of said game as impacted by some players getting it for free; but I think that pales in comparison to the psychological effect of the sales themselves.

But it isn't in Valve's best interest of course. And while it could conceivably not be a financial risk to the publisher, I think they would still incur an opportunity cost compared to other contractual option.
