It was $2.50 on flash sale earlier this week, but seriously folks, BUY THIS GAME! Roguelike space sim with LOTS of replayability and a cool soundtrack for $2.50? What's not to like. It's hard as hell and I can't put it down.

I was on the fence with it but bought it this morning. pretty damn cool!

kind of hard though. seems like you never have enough money to buy anything though.

I agree. It's a cool game, but I think I'm done with it. I've got 3 hours into it and I've only made it as far as sector 3. It's just too damn hard (and I'm playing on "Easy"!!!).

Had my ship in really good shape.....strong shield, strong engine, healthy crew, no holes in the hull.....and then suddenly there were "bugs" IN my ship. A minute later the game was over.......I had no chance to defend myself. It's like the FTL Gods just randomly decided......YOU LOSE. Argh.

I made it to sector 5 on easy on my first play through. solar flares or whatever suck!!!

then I got attacked by something that really kicked my ass. too many fires started, not enough crew, losing oxygen...haha, sucked bad.

It wasn't on my radar, but Fallout 3 for $2.49 looks attractive. Is it worth it to step up to the Ultimate edition and get all the DLC included for $4.99?

Damn so doesn't look like Kings Bounty is going to be discounted any further.

So- thinking of getting either just legend, or may get the platinum addition - unless those of you who have played them rec. just getting one of the others besides legend? I've not played any of them. Thanks!

I spent many many hours with Legends, and only a few with Armored Princes..

They are very similar, but AP is much more difficult, imo. Could be that I went with Mage for that one, but the army leveling is a bit more brutal.

They are fun games if you like turn-based combat.

I am truly angry that Expeditions Conquistador never came back at 75% off and I doubt it will with the last batch of flash sales at this rate. That was probably the top game I wanted to get out of this sale for 66+% off, can't swing $10 for it.

There is only one case where this is true - when you play the Stealth ship, and run into multiple attack drones before you find Shields for sale.

All other situations - you just don't understand the mechanics.

Fix for strong boarders - buy improved doors so they can't run around easily on your ship (they are super cheap). Buy/get two crew that are your 'security' and/or drones, and level up the attack by using them as boarders on enemy ships.

I ran into it all - boarders, storms, meteors, suns, etc. All easily dealt with if you plan ahead and have a good strategy to deal with them. I even beat the boss with a lvl 1 ion, lvl 1 attack drone, and fire bombs, so don't think you 'lost' unless you find big weapons early.

100% yes.

The DLC for these games are great. Not just for added missions, but they give you more options for normal play--turning all of the junky tin cans you find into bullets? very useful.

Vanilla FO3 and NV are still probably worth $20-30

I went in looking for Tomb Raider, came out with

Tomb Raider (actually Amazon sale. Should have waited as it ended up being a few bucks cheaper on Steam)

Dark Souls (GFWL made this one agony on my system)

Patrician 3 (I kind of enjoyed 2 years ago. So cheap I couldn't pass it up)

X Com (pretty fun, can be frustrating)

Euro Truck simulator 2 (actually a pretty cool game, although I frequently find myself asking "why am I playing a job again?")

Sweet; just got Civ5 Gold and Borderlands 2 as gifts, and Civ IV Complete.

Although I have picked up more titles in the Summer Sale from 2 years ago, this sale I picked up only the titles that I really wanted. So it has been a great Sale for me.

Final list
Gifts
Borderlands 2
Civ 5 Gold

For myself
Borderlands 2
F.3.A.R.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Civ IV Complete

Cool, thanks- leaning towards just grabbing legend to see how I like it- maybe pick up the rest during the winter sale

Added up the damage, and spent far more than I thought I would.

Half Life 2
Left 4 Dead
Hotline Miami
Scribblenauts Unlimited
McPixel
Witcher 2
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider 1
Tomb Raider 2
Tomb Raider 3
System Shock 2
Dishonored
Reus
Mount and Blade Warband
Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars
GTA 4
GTA 4 Episodes from Liberty City
Sang Froid
Company of Heroes Complete
Binding of Isaac Wrath of the Lamb DLC
Skyrim Hearthfire DLC
Defense Grid Containment DLC
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
Prison Architect

Total cost - $115. Total made from selling cards - about $22. Total badges made - 12. So about $93, which isn't bad, considering I used to always buy new titles day one for $60.

I love Euro Truck Simulator 2. I played the original for awhile and loved it too. It's just a nice relaxing yet somewhat challenging game with some extra management gameplay to keep it interesting. My only quibbles with it is that sometimes the AI does stupid things, like stopping in a merge lane when it is safe to merge. It could use some more Life in it, so far I have only seen some Chick, that could be a prostitute, walking around twice.

QUESTION FOR STEAM SALES THREADS

Question for you all.

Is there anything you would like to see be done with these sales threads I make? Change format, add pictures, some other suggestion(s) or are you happy with the way they are?

Yeah, the addition of prostitutes seems like a natural for an Eastern European game. Maybe ETS 3 could have cards like The Witcher. I've heard it is a part of trucking life, after all.

Believe it or not - I like the challenge of backing into the loading dock. Isn't that weird? The last time I played the destination was a really tight fit and I spent like 15 minutes perfectly backing my truck in.

Dammit. So much for a "comprehensive" encore day. I wanted to pick up RPG Maker for my son's birthday, but it appears that ain't happening. Another useless steam sale for me.

I think they're fine. Maybe if you're up for adding the metacitric score it would be easy to immediately see which games on sale can be dismissed.

Then again - I usually check the actual reviews anyway.

Hehe, that's one thing I have been skipping. Been thinking that on a future replay I might do that and put Sleeping back on. It will be my Hardcore replay. I actually was decent at it in the first one, just didn't feel like refiguring it out.

I find backing up real semis easier than in euro truck sim lol

Doesn't surprise me. There's a whole lot of feedback IRL that can't(currently) be given in a game. One's whole body can kinda feel such things after awhile. That said, there might be a Physics issue with the game itself as well.

I think it has to do with visibility. I've been able to get them backed up well enough, but one time at night I thought I'd never get it. Also find it hard to figure out where the wheels are.

If you back up in 3rd-person camera mode, it's redonkulously easy.
