No power upgrade + more weight than last Gen? Hmm...
It does make 40HP more then the last gen viper, not much of an upgrade but better than nothing.

You can hear it run in this Jay Leno's at around the 11 minute mark. Just the start and idle, but it sounds pissed for sure.
Good god.. I think I'd get that over any car under 100k if I could ever afford that. I love love love the new Viper look.
Looks like a longer, and much wider, TVR. I guess it's okay, but the interior isn't doing anything for me.
Wow, all sorts of wrong.
Why on earth would Dodge put Ford engines in their cars?
*If* such a thing were to exist, it wouldn't really be a Viper anymore....
It would also probably end up around $80k.
It would also have the 6.4L engine Dodge has that, while using more fuel, puts out 15% more power than Ford's 5.0. It weighs slightly more, but not by a lot as it's a pushrod engine (just like the real Viper engine) instead of a DOHC engine like the Ford.
In what world do you think that the V10 alone adds $60k to the price of the car?
You'd only be able to put in a few psi of boost before you become severely traction-limited.Hopefully will handle better than the old Viper too. Interested to see if a SC/turbo can easily be installed.

Looks good. I like that candy red color too. Sports cars naturally look good in red though.
640hp isn't enough? Tell you what Mario, you go drive one and then come back here and tell me it needs a turbo.

500 hp in a gen 2 feels downright docile at times with no driver aids at all. With traction and stability control I don't see a problem with wanting more than 640. Particularly when there's a 662hp Mustang.
Viper GTS
First of all, you guys who think the V10 and 8.4L of displacement are going to lead to eye flattening acceleration are sort of wrong. The Viper is fast, don't get me wrong, but it does not FEEL nearly as fast as it is. It also does not feel super torquey in the slightest. I specifically commented, as did my brother, on the lack of low RPM power. That's a combination of super, super long gears, aggressive torque management by the ECU, as well as the VVT which makes the engine relatively soft down low. It was actually pretty disappointing if you want to be perfectly honest. My brother felt the same way, which is why he modded it. The performance mopar ECU did not add much power, but it did sharpen the lower RPM reflexes and add a bit more torque down low. Frankly at 600 whp the performance, as far as driving enjoyment is concerned, was lacking which is why he sold it and got a 99 GTS. That car is much more engaging, despite being slower. It FEELS just as fast, but again due to the super tall gearing, it never really impresses. A Z06 feels like it has a much larger motor under the hood than either Viper does.
Actually looks awesome, but Chrysler has no shortage of powerful looking vehicles or, evidently, powerful names.

I agree; looks like a combo of a Sagaris and a Fisker. Interior is a WHOLE lot better than what it was before
I guess it is better, but that's like saying the rack is more comfortable than the iron maiden.
I'll get flamed for this, but at $135k for the SRT (likely $150-160k on the showroom floor), I'd rather have a supercharged `08 or `09 Gallardo, AWD w/ 760bhp. :hmm:

Chrysler has announced pricing information for the 2013 SRT Viper, with the base price seen above, and the higher-spec Viper GTS model at $120,395 (plus destination)
