2014 BMW 335i GT - looks like a cool situational vehicle.

I really don't understand these vehicles it does nothing better than another vehicle already available. They have to put it on a long wheel base to say it adds any functionality over the regular sedan & takes away the room in the back from a wagon that allows taller items or a dog. On top of that it isn't attractive and looses the driving dynamics of the sedan/wagon.

I didn't realize that the Crosstour was selling so well that BMW would copy it...

fixed.

Wagon (or hatch) is good. Sedan is good. 'Fastback sedan' is terrible and should be burned.
Well, I believe they classified this as a hatch, technically it's a 5 doors hatch.

I do see where this becomes practical, because I don't think they make wagons any more. Let's say if you have a kid, and need to haul some stuff around every now and then, this is perfect for those occasions. And any other day, it serves as a competent sedan, sort of.

You do realize BMW came out with the 5 GTs before the Crosstour went on sale? Or is it the other way around? :hmm:

I would far rather they'd just sell an F30 wagon than this.
Yeah, I'd like to see this turn into a wagon instead.

Looks too much like the Crosstaur / Venza ugliness that has infected the car sector. Not to worry its a phase. Give it a year and gone.

Can you imagine people going into the showroom and be wowed over the trunk space? Really?
I don't know man, I can see a baby stroller, diaper bag, a pet cage and other miscellaneous items in that trunk... Other times, it'll easily fit surfboards, snowboards, etc... without the roof rack. :awe:

I think it's a good compromise without having to go to an SUV weight level vehicle.

Its not bad, looks a lot better than most of these, but I'd go for a wagon (too bad we can't get the RS6 Avant in the US) instead although I'm fairly impressed by how much room there is in the back.

I like it better than the 5 series one and about the same as the X6.

Creative but no. People with kids buy SUV or Minivan. Outdoor types are mostly SUV or Jeep buyers.

No this is BMW thinking they are SAAB. It will be a massive flop. Somebody will be fired for this travesty. And exactly where is the GT in this car?

GT = Grand Trunk

So glad that everyone has to conform to what you think they should.

No its not going to be a big seller and I'm sure BMW knew that before they ever made it, yet they still made a case for not only it, but the X6 and the 5 series based one which have been offered since 2008 and 2009 so..*shrug*

Actually I think BMW has snatched up quite a few former Saab devotees, and maybe they're ones that are telling BMW they'd want something like this.

I stand corrected. I think.
On July 7, 2009, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced sales for Fall of 2009 as a 2010 model

The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo launched as a 2010 model during the fourth quarter of 2009

it has a market for people who don't want an SUV, or a station wagon because it makes them feel old, but want more space than in a sedan or a smallish hatchback. I think it's bs but whatever.
We'll see if it's a fad or not.

Why? It's MUCH more aerodynamic than a wagon or a sedan, and you get much more space. If you have to transport something tall you can leave the hatch open.

The downside of the BMW version is that it's supposed to be a semi-SUV so it has a stretched wheelbase and rides higher

But it's a BMW yo! They have that unlimited driving experiments or something like that.

Too bad the US only gets an N20 F31 and they release this with an N55. If the E84 X1 didn't have such a dated interior and electronics, I doubt they'd sell many of these F34s.

theres gonna be a diesel F31 in the US also.

the 3 GT is horrible. i've seen enough 5 GT and x6 cars in santa monica to know this style makes my eyes burn.

the only reason the 3GT has more space too is its 5-6" longer than a normal 3 since I think it uses the stretched chinese long wheel base 3 platform.

Yeah, but who wants a Euro 320d rebadged as a US 328d that sells for more then a 328i? I've driven the F20 120d with the N47, it's decent, but it's going to feel dog slow with an additional 300+ pounds in an F31.

well i think the wagon really only weighs about 150 pounds more than equivalent sedan.

but yeah the badging thing is ridiculous. though they probably have to do it to justify how much more it costs to build a diesel car so that they can market it to the type of people who just want that badge number being higher. i've known people who bought say a C350 over a C300 just for the badge even though theres barely any difference.....

the US 328d will probably be about as fast as a 320i and cost a little more than a 328i. i'm thinking the fwy milage will probably only be in the 40 range. with the wagon premium of another $2000 i think it'll be a hard one to justify for most. offering a wagon diesel im amazed they are doing. maybe they want the CAFE credit too who knows.

but yeah having driven a friends 335d a few times i dont think i'd want one unless it has tons of rebates again. just doesnt save enough money on gas (like it would in say europe where gas is $9 a gallon) to make up for the less fun driving and less speed and more upfront cost.
