2014 Steam Holiday Sale

How's Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning? I've heard man great things about this RPG, but never purchased it.

I'm guessing the Steam cut is proportional to the price paid. The devs also have nearly zero expenses once a game is done, with Steam handling everything, so even selling 100,000 copies at $5, minus the Steam cut is good for small 2 man dev houses.

Terraria has sold over 3 million copies, and probably at least half for $2 on sale. They still update it with tons of content. At even a dollar to them, that's three million bucks.

Good point, it's just icing on the cake at this point.

I just finished Dragon Age Inquisition and I'm looking for another RPG to sink my teeth in to....is Risen 3 any good?

Player reviews are mixed. Some prefer 1, some 2, some 3. Metacritic isn't good.

Would that 'Lords of Xulima' be too old tech?

Totally off topic, but how does a manufacturer, even an Indy one get buy selling games for $5?

I don't think it's easy.

It's why these 'fast sales to $2' seem bad for the industry eventually.

I really enjoyed it. Fun combat, big zones, interesting enemies, decent story. Was too bad the studio went bust. For $5 you can't go wrong.

In other news, Rogue Legacy for $2.24 is a steal. If you enjoy platformers and roguelikes, it's hard to beat.

It's like a more colorful Skyrim, with more action-orientated combat akin to an ARPG.

The only downside imo, is that it gets really easy once you build your character up.

I bought it for full price, and don't regret it.

I got it on sale some time ago. It is good, not great however. I got sort of overwhelmed by all the quests, and got involved in some other games, so did not finish. I plan to go back at some point though.

Seconded on KoA. It's fun, though I still haven't finished it. I do intend to!

I got it on sale some time ago. It is good, not great however. I got sort of overwhelmed by all the quests, and got involved in some other games, so did not finish. I plan to go back at some point though.

I also didn't finish KoA, and for the same reason. overwhelmed with quests late in the game and just got tired of the grind.

It's fun though, and I enjoyed it. Action-oriented combat, good RPG mechanics. Though, I wouldn't compare it to Skyrim--very linear in both story progression and map design. As many invisible walls as there are areas that you can access.

I was gifted Spacechem and I return gifted Unholy Heights. Both at $1. Haven't played Spacechem yet but Unholy Heights is good fun for about 10-20 hours.

And finally Super Meat Boy was under $1 again! it was on sale many times in the past (before I knew about it) but it's been a long time, so I picked it up.

Now would love for Bad Hotel, Indie Game Developer, Democracy 3 and Sokobond to have better prices.

Also still waiting for Dishonored GOTY Edition to reach $5.
