Steam voters are idiots.

The current choice, the winner of which goes to 50% off:

- Orion Prelude list $0.99, discount $0.50
- OMSI 2 bus driving list $35 discount $17.50
- IL-2 Sturmovik list $60 discount $30

Last two are sims, smaller customer base, can use the sales a lot.

What won? Of course, Orion Prelude. Now it's $0.49.

this happens every year. people are morons.

I voted for Il-2 even though I had no plans to buy it. Sims are way more expensive than most of the games. I spent over $100 on ten modules for Digital Combat Simulator which were 50-65% off. If it weren't for the sale discounts, I would probably only purchased one module.

The positive spin would be that a six year old kid can have money left over from his $1 weekly allowance if he buys Orion.

While I don't disagree with your assessment, I'm not convinced that people have anything to do with it - Valve is rigging these votes for economic and/or contractual reasons.

But I believe in chupacabras too........

Man Ive run into the wall of already owning everything that goes on sale below $5 and most of the stuff under $10 Im also to the point where theres no reason to buy games when they are above that price because of my huge backlog.

I mentioned this in an old steam thread. I (usually) don't buy sequels unless I've played the original. So that kind of helps to spend less.

Ok so... Bioshock: Infinite is on sale.

1) I played, and completed the original BioShock and loved it.
2) I only played about 1 hour worth of the 2nd one at my cousin's place years ago and barely remember anything about it (my cousin liked it though from what I can recall).
3) Always been aware of Infinite's massive popularity and success (apparently anyway).
4) Most "user reviews" I'm seeing at least on Steam's page consists of praise in 95% of cases (even though it's not perfect, of course, nothing ever is... well ok Super Metroid is but that's another story).

So yeah I'm "considering" Infinite now, heck I'm even looking at the $17 (CAN) Season Pass version which seems to include 4 DLCs. But I am hesitant...

A) Should I play the 2nd one first? Any of you guys liked it?
B) If I can ignore the 2nd one, then would you say that Infinite is "just as good" or actually "better" than the first one?

I know, it's extremely subjective... but I'm curious. I need some convincing points. I'm also hesitant because my PayPal "reserved" funds that I dedicated for this years' holiday sales is going down faster than I thought it would (which means that if I do buy Infinite then I won't be able to buy much more afterwards). I bought a GTX 970 barely a week ago so my wallet has been momentarily bruised.

Life is tough when you have to take decisions like that... man.

I never finished Bioshock or Bioshock 2, but I did finish Infinite. Personally, I think it's a good game overall; it's not perfect, but it's definitely worth playing. However, as I noted, it's not perfect, and I absolutely agree with the criticism that the game receives. The shooter mechanics are probably the biggest thorn in the side for most people playing the game, and that stems around the 2-gun carry limitation. Where this really hurts you is the fact that you upgrade weapons separately, and you don't really have the funds to upgrade everything (this includes your plasmids).

Now, that may not sound terrible. You may think, "Well, I'll just stick with the weapons that I like!" Unfortunately, you can't really do that. On boss fights, weapon ammunition is incredibly limiting -- especially since most weapons don't have much in the way of ammo capacity upgrades (I believe the pistol has the most). So, when you run out of ammo, you have to switch to your other weapon, which you hope is good for the fight, or find something lying around to use... and hope that you've upgraded it.

With all those complaints, I still thought it was fun to play. Albeit, I never played the game's higher difficulty level. The game doesn't really require you to play any of the previous Bioshock games, but it would be nice to play the first one and then play the Burial at Sea DLC since it takes place entirely in Rapture.

You don't have to play the 2nd one. In fact, I think it was made by a different company from the first and Infinite (or something like that). I really liked the first one and I thought Infinite was quite good as well. I have yet to play the second one. My only real complaint about Bioshock Infinite is the god awful checkpoint save system. There is utterly no excuse for it in this day and age. If you can tolerate that, then I would recommend it.

If you don't buy Super Meat Boy for $0.74, you're stupid. That's not an insult, it's a fact. Go forth and splat!

I have the exact same thing going. If a game is more than about 3 dollars I ask myself, am I going to install it and play it right now? If not then most likely it will be cheaper on the next steam sell (or at least the same price) so I might as well pick it up then, because I most likely won't get around to playing it before then anyway.

I finally understand how digital hoarders complain about these massive libraries of games they never play. I am at a lifetime record right now of three games I just bought and need to get through, but I could see how daily deals and what not end up with a person getting more games than they can possibly ever play.

I personally got shadow warrior for $3.99 and red alert 3 for $~5 this past week. Oh and ethan carter, but it was a quick finish.

My kid will play them one day, even if I don't. Or so I tell myself

Haven't bought crap from Steam yet. Really want both Metro Redux games for $5 a piece. Originals are among my favorite games. And now I have a pc to really play them full glory.

Only thing I've bought so far was the Cold, Cold Heart DLC for Arkham Origins for $1.87 at GMG.

I have Last Light on my wishlist. At that price, I'd get it.

This has been a strange Steam sale for me....of the 11 games on my wishlist, only Shadow Warrior has been on a true sale (not the standard 25% off type of thing).

Ugh, I feel there's a bit of collusion here. I got an offer from PayPal Digital Gifts for $10 off a $50 gift card. What merchants do they offer? Well, quite a few, and one of those just happens to be Steam. Although, I kind of wish that I would've received the offer a day earlier when I purchased Dynasty Warriors and the Game of Thrones game. :$

i keep getting an error trying to add it to my cart

I kept trying to add one of the Scribblenauts games earlier, but it just wouldn't add. I added the other Scribblenauts game, and I could suddenly add the original one. I was able to remove the secondary game, and just purchase the first one. To note, I didn't get an error when the game failed to add; Steam would just bring me to an empty cart.
