Teams were randomly assigned.
Except you can use the team tokens to change teams. Of course the token for the best team would be relatively expensive, but if you have the money to blow...

So you are suggesting that instead of people setting out to set a trend that even mapped out the days perfectly to the actual winners you believe that was Steam rigging the winners and eliminating competition where cards would be bought and sold in a fevor netting them .03 a pop voluntarily changed the policy to force competition because some forums suggested that they were rigging it?
Punctuation, have you heard of it?

Anyhow, if I'm understanding you correctly: I am suggesting that Valve didn't take dog piling (AKA team stacking) into account, and that all the heavily invested (i.e. "best") players would eventually join the same team to make sure they won. Furthermore after it became clear that the game was a failure, Valve rigged the results to make it seem fair. Otherwise people get really, really cranky that someone else is getting something for free.

Meanwhile forum users have no influence over this, other than perhaps providing a convenient scapegoat.

People dog pile in video games all the time (see: TF2), so given the ability to do it here I would certainly expect to see the same thing.

Is Splinter Cell Blacklist any good?

I was thinking of getting it a while back but didn't. Now at $7.50/$10 it is tempting. I bought Conviction a couple years ago on a Steam sale and I liked it. Is Blacklist more of the same?

Also was thinking about CoD Ghosts. I've generally liked all of the CoD games. I mostly play SP campaign though. Last one I played a lot of MP was MW2. But Ghosts only has a 68 rating which even for CoD PC seems a bit low.

Blacklist is worth it, I enjoyed Conviction as well.

Haven't played it, was thinking of adding it to my backlist of many Tom Clancy games, forums say the multi-player stopped working and isn't being fixed.

Yea I'm not sure how much I'm into monster fps games. I may as well pick it up. So looks like brothers, dark siders 2, metro, maybe myst tomorrow. But I never played myst. It looks like just an exploration game.

Myst is not an exploration game, it's a puzzle game, and a classic. It has exploration in the sense that you look around places as you go from puzzle to puzzle.

I can't follow the golden rule exactly, because a game so badly named I can't remember the name minutes later is $11.99 on Steam and $11.24 on a short time sale on gog.com.

So, do I reward Steam's manipulative bonuses for buying there, for the very tiny chance it helps get a chance for 3 free games, get a 'game card'? Bleh.

But do I save $.75 and get it now on gog.com in the next hour on sale, or wait and see if it happens to go on a bigger sale on Steam?

Oh I remember the name now - it's FRACT ??? forgot the three letters after the FRACT, it's a 'game of exploration' about music that people seem to love and worth supporting.

CoD: Ghosts is on sale, so is CoD: World at War for $10. Wonder if WoW has ever been cheaper... 40 hours left.

There are sites to check that.

Ya, just googled it... Cheapest it's been appears to be $10 or $15. Funny thing is it was $10 or $15 in 2011. I'd have expected a bigger discount 3 years later. Whatever, bought it!

Why is it that anything you recently bought will immediately appear in the sale at a lower price than you paid, while anything you have been resisting buying because 'it will be on sale soon' stubbornly refuses to appear as a sale item!

This wasn't during the sale, but I bought Enemy Front an hour before it unlocked... One more hour and I would have gotten 25% off. I didn't like it, which is insult to injury.

I know! Sound flowchart, though by 'recently' I mean 'some time before the sale began'. Really have to learn to stick to the additional rule of 'never buy anything other than in a sale'.

Actually there's a reason not to do that sometimes. Games count on different price points including some higher ones. If they don't sell games at the higher price point it'll greatly hurt their revenue which will cut the budget for quality, features, even the game not getting made. And so buyers should consider buying at a higher price point for games they like more and feel it's 'worth it' if they want to support the game.

Brothers is an awesome game and is a steal at $3, but it absolutely does require a controller to play (as in you cannot play the game without one). This is because you are simultaneously controlling two different characters, one with each thumbstick. It sounds really bizarre but the implementation is brilliant.

Thanks for the reminder; been wanting to try Brothers for a while now. Grabbed this one.

Is it recommended ? How difficult would it be? Could use another game besides brothers.

Just got Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Heard some good things about it, and the videos on the store page looked pretty cool.

Been thinking about Splinter Cell also. Played the last one (I think) on the 360, and it was fun as hell to play online with someone.

I don't understand why anyone cares about the Summer Adventure game. Even with 60 people "winning" now per day, you still have an extremely small chance of actually getting anything. At best, probably something like 60 out of 150,000 per day.
