2014 Steam Summer Sale Thread

I'm still kicking myself for not getting The Elder Scrolls Anthology (all games and DLC on-disc, plus 4 physical maps) for $25 at Target a couple of weeks ago. It was such a good deal that I just can't justify spending $13 on Skyrim and its DLC alone. I went so far as to take it off my Wishlist.

I understand your point, but would you really end up playing all those older ES games though? One way to think about it is that you're saving $12 and now getting the only game you'd actually play.

Project Zomboid is worth it, its a fun game, i would say its %95 done for a early access game.

Maybe not the oldest ones, but I'd definitely have gone back and tried Morrowind and Oblivion. I actually beat the base Skyrim game on 360, but wanted to get it on PC for the DLC and mods.

What are you guys' opinions on the whole Summer Adventure badge thing? I've got 8 of the 10 cards needed now, but the rewards for crafting it don't look anything like as useful as what the set of cards is "worth".

Not sure you can sell as a set.. price them individually in the marketplace. Looks like between .40 and .50 ea.. I crafted one badge, because I wanted the badge and my team was winning anyway so I got that 30/30,000,000 shot of winning 3 games.

Going to probably sell the rest though.

Ill try and summarize, at least how I understand it.

5 teams - you are assigned randomly when you click on the summer adventure section on the store page and click get started.

crafting badges gives your team points, summer badge = 10 points, regular badges = 1

team with most points at 10AM PST every day wins

winning team has 30 people selected, they receive 3 games free from their wishlist

you must have contributed at least 1 point on the day your team wins to be eligible to be one of the 30 winners.

For you poor dumb bastards that still havent tried Skyrim:

Its dirt cheap today, and I highly recommend it. Based on the current price and amount of gaming it contains, you will be paying approximately one cent per hour of entertainment.

One simply cannot find a better deal than that.


Even if you dont think it will be interesting to you, I honestly believe you should pay the 5 dollars to find out. You may be surprised. And if it doesnt please, the risk was worth it. Trust me on this.

In my case it probably would be the reverse, I liked the first 4 games but didn't like Skyrim (they removed spellcrafting which was my favorite feature of the series)

Theres assloads of mods out there with modified and totally new spells.

Also I never liked spellcrafting in game very much. You always end up with a spell that costs more than whats already available. If you want fair Magicka costs you have to make the spell in the mod tools. Of course there its too tempting to make mega-spells that cost 0. So thats a problem.
But you can also have better effects than whats normally allowed, like summoning a skeleton army.

How is Payday 1 as a game? Is the multiplayer community large? And the missions fun?

From what I remember, once #2 came out all my friends dropped #1 like a hot potato.

But then I tryied to join them with #2, but gave up on that game within 2 hours of playing, the gun recoil was just crap. you shoot, gun goes up and stays there, even when you stop shooting.

Shadowrun I quite liked. If you like/do not mind games with turn "points" per player, then it is good.

If you are expecting a FPS, do not waste your money.

Do you guys think Distant Worlds Universe will go on sale?

I bought into it back a previous expansion from the maker's web site.

So when they released the current pack, I got upgrade credits.

That being said, I like the game idea and space 4x games in general and want it to be good, but have not got around to playing it even though I have had it for several (?) months.

As to a sale, I do not think so as it was only just released on steam about 2 months back.

Feeling like I wasted money on Skyrim wow these graphics are bad, such horrible LOD pop-in and even with the HD texture pack installed the majority of the environment textures are low res. It's a stutter fest as well at times despite reporting a locked 60 fps.
