120hz 4k will come. Its required for 3d, which is the reason why we got 120hz 1080p in the first place. Give it a year or two.

3D is dead.

Yet virtually every mid to upper range TV ships with it. I would say that it isn't popular as a media format, but it is popular as a marketing point. 4k will get it since they'll be upper range TVs to start and its a marketing point.

I don't know a single person that cares about having a 3D TV, some people I know has one and their kids likes to watch some of the movies in 3D (Avatar in 3D was kinda cool-ish), but really for the most part 3D is just lame and is best seen on a 120" wall in a movie theater anyways.

People around the internet will tell you that 4K is irrelevant, why would it be when there are things capable of displaying 4K resolution right now? If someone has the money they'll have one, and R9 290/290X's are strong enough to handle 4K resolution.

For me I'm fine with 1080p because I sit about a foot and half from the monitor and anything bigger than 24" is too much looking around the screen for me while playing games.

You are right most people don't care about 3d.

However what you should notice is all the highend models are 3d. So if you want all the best features and that ultra black pro panel glass guess what you have to buy the 3d model because it wont' be on the lower end one.

I own a highend 2012 plasma from samsung that is a 3d tv and I never use the 3d on it. However is has all of the features and the best glass on it which provides superior pq to the lower end models.

And 4k is irrelevant until there is more content.

But the same thing will happen with 4k tv they will put all the best features on those models and you will eventually have to buy a 4k tv even if you don't use 4k just to get the best features for that model.

I love the 3d movie experience. My TV forces me to move it so its more centered directly in front of me (to get perfect 3d experience), so between that minor hassle and the lack of content I am limited to how often I use it.... but when I do use it I find movies really pop. It can be avatar, transformers (felt like optimus was in front of you at times), jack the giant slayer, or even something basic like life of pi. I find it enhances the experience. Then there are all the CGI movies that really come to life with 3d (reck it ralph, monsters inc, epic, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, meet the croods, etc).

I love 3d when well used. And if anything I find it looks better at home then at the theater. At home you can configure it exactly the way you like it, at the theater it needs to be setup to kind of work for several different angles (due to different seat positions).

I haven't really liked 3D movies, but a game that supports 3D well is just amazing. I game in 3D far more than 2D, but I have no interest in watching 3D movies, as most are not really done correctly.

The Dell p2815q is surprisingly cheap. The second it was available I had quite a few customers ask for quotes. When I saw what Dell was offering us as cost, it was shocking. Sadly these guys are only 30hz... Hopefully we'll see some 4k units with a higher refresh rate (over 60 would be nice)

All I can say a $800 dollar monitor to me doesn't sound too affordable.

At tht price I'd keep the monitors I've got and splurge on a decent HTPC projector myself, but just me maybe.

What's 3D? I thought that went out in the 1950's for movies.

All those knocking 3d must not have discovered adult 3d content. Lol. We all know that drives the internet and tech

Got mine. Unfortunately it has a fair amount of backlight bleed (blotches all over the screen) which is fairly annoying. A disappointment considering my current Dell has no backlight bleed whasoever.

Otherwise, amazing the amount of on-screen real estate. Haven't played any games yet, but did run a quick Thief benchmark maxed out and only got 23fps, this is with 3 Titans.

Jebus!

I'm waiting on the ROG 27" 120hz to release already, really want to see some reviews/hands on impressions I really want one, just hope the TN panel is better than the average. Currently on a Dell U2711 which is ok but would love to get the 120hz and gsync smoothness for games.

Did you get an actual retail unit or a sample by chance? I am a bit concerned if there is a ton of backlight bleed, but I might be able to live with it. It seems like from the review I read, it is a nice monitor, despite Windows being pretty poop at handling 4k.

It looks to be a retail unit. It appears other people who received the monitor over at HardForum don't have the bleed problem- I was just unlucky. So, 23FPS with 1 Titan, 55FPS with 3 Titans, that's pretty much what I expected.

IT TAKES 3 TITANS TO GET 55 FPS ON A 4K MONITOR? DAYUM!!!

I guess im going to keep my Dell UltraSharp U2913WM & GTX 680's SLi for a long while.

It's either the Video Cards are too expensive or 4k monitor is too expensive.

I find it hilarious also that someone would spend $3,000 on titans just to get 55fps on a 4k monitor.

290/x crossfire would be playable. Total cost $800-900.

I'd imagine he had the titans, the 780 is comparable to 3xtitan with a $1500 cost but the 290/x scale better and are better at high resolution.
