Guess you probably grew up with spiral bound notebooks. Me? Loose leaf notebook paper and folders with paper holding tabs. I am used to having a pen separate from the medium at hand and in near proximity (bag, pen pockets, pen clips)

Once you get past the stone age, people like things that are convenient and don't require them to hack their own solutions.

What if, those default solutions are not as ideal in some cases? You DID read my new pen preference choice with my Surface Pro 2? Not the default one, not something that can shoehorn into a provided silo for the default pen. Wacom Tablet PC pens work across the board like that, given the drivers from Wacom.

Apple only hardware, limits my hardware options. Period. Android options are not as uniform from a software stance. Both have a lack of replacement professional software options outside basic communication, media, and notebook like functions.

The one thing I really dislike about the new samsung tablet is the lack of a kickstand (or similar). The other thing is I don't like the backing on the pro note; still i wanted a 12-13 inch tablet so maybe one of these will do if the price is reasoanble. Kind of wish the non-lte version had the snapdragon.

Seriously, a kickstand should be a STANDARD feature for tablets 10" and up. It's essentially the reason I kept coming back to the Surface Pro instead of something like the Venue 11.

I agree, a kick stand would have been pretty nice to have on a huge 12.2 inch tablet.

I wouldn't use the words "ultra premium" either, let's not go crazy, it's still a plastic tablet. But it does look really good and I think that leather looking plastic texture is going to be a huge improvement over past smooth super glossy (and slippery) plastic tablets. Not sure what Samsung's aversion to metals are, real metal trim might have been nice. But as long as it feels sturdy and the back has grip, that is all that really matters to me.

I'm skeptical that it's going to be lag free. But we'll see.

The Logitech Pro case for the new Note Pro is pretty damn nice. It's a case, a full bluetooth keyboard, and it will fold back all the way to function as a stand. It retails at a premium $130 though, but if you're going to get a keyboard for your tablet anyway, it could be worth it.

Those Logitech folio cases are pretty cool. But between what the cost of the tablet and the $130 case, I suspect this might cross the upper threshold of what I consider an Android device to be worth. If they charge $600 for the tablet, I don't think I want to sink $730 total into an Android netbook.

I bought a Logitech fabric folio keyboard case for my iPad Air, it's very cool, but were I to do it over, I'd just buy an 11" MBA.

I agree. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a little more than that, too. They're currently selling the 10.1 2014 for $550, we'd be lucky if they're pricing the 12.2 at $650.

I think a border-less tablet with pen with screen size closer to 8.5x11 sheet of paper would make a lot of sense to replace paper applications.
You go to the doctor office and instead of giving you a clipboard with paper they can just hand you the pdf form on a tablet, and you can fill it out right there, everything gets OCR'd and read right there, and you can correct any errors before handing it back.
Or read PDF magazines and scanned letters/faxes in native size. There is a lot of content designed for 8.5x11 size.

Well I like Samsung's choice of the matte back covers rather than the glossy plastic covers.

Matte plastic = feels premium

Glossy plastic = cheap.

Aluminium is alright but I hate the cold feeling and also the fact that it gets sticky easily in humid weather. Also aluminium scratches way too easily.

However glass is the worst material. A small drop = small cracks galore.
