Automotive News says that Americans won't be getting the hatchback in the picture, but will instead be getting (1) a hybrid sedan Fit, and (2) a small hybrid crossover SUV based on the Fit. The 2015 Fit will sport a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle engine coupled to a 22-kw electric motor & battery with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and will allow for electric-only driving mode. There may also be a 1.5L gas engine version with a 6-speed manual. Both sound pretty good to me!

I wonder if their SUV Fit would be a Kia Soul competitor. I'm a big fan of the Fit; a hybrid version sounds nice for sure. I'd imagine a sedan Fit would be something like a Nissan Versa sedan. Although, I really liked the hatchback Fit that I had. My wife has a 2013 Civic and it is an amazingly nice car. Like really surprisingly great - drives like it's on glass, super quiet engine, steering so light that it's like a video game. Definitely be interested to see if the 2015 Fits will be plug-in models (re: electric-only driving)!

Good lord, they managed to make it even more akwardly-shaped than the current one.

This makes the first gen Fit look even better than the 2nd gen already made it look.

I'm happy with my 2013 fit. Just about 4k miles so far and avg about 30mpg mixed driving. Plenty of room and I'm happy with the power. You aren't going to pull off any high speed passes but it gets the job done.
I'd be really interested in the hybrid model but I'm sure my current fit will last me at least another 5 years before I get tired of it and sell it.

Want. Going to buy.

These cars are excellent city runners.

I see Honda needed an entry into the chunky looking, urban assault interior theme that has plagued recent vehicles.

I like the looks of it. The 55mpg hybrid (estimate from motor trend article) looks especially nice. Maybe the wife will get one for her next car although she likes the new civic.

30 MPG in mixed driving? I am surprised as the wife gets the same in her 8th Gen Civic.

Surprised in what sense?
Btw my wife drives an 8th gen civic too but I never tracked mileage.

The current Fit doesn't get the greatest mileage on the highway. The Civic actually does slightly better. The Fit's 1.5 is revving pretty high at 65+ MPH, and the Fit's height takes a toll on aerodynamics. The Fit's lighter weight and smaller engine do give it a slight edge over the Civic in the city though.

Six and a half of one, half a baker's dozen of the other...

^ That.

I was going to grab one 6 months ago, but the highway operation was a small pain.

They make for unrivaled city runners, though. They buzz around like go-karts and can pack a ton of stuff.

Will depend on what the hybrid MPGs turn out to be. I liked me 09 Fit....only problem was that the interior was so cheap...cloth on the armrests actually worn out after a few years. Never had that happen on a car before. But yeah the Honda Urban is the small SUV they are referring to. That one looks interesting as well.

Honda Fit Hybrid? Hmmm... I like hybrids. I like Hondas. I like the Fit (and I own an '09).

Well, I would like to buy a Hybrid as my next car, but it likely won't be a Honda.

I'm not seeing how a 7-speed geared automatic can compete with Hybrid Synergy Drive and similar Toyota-licensed systems.

Honda falls all over themselves trying to come up with a hybrid system that Toyota can't sue them over, but Toyota simply "owns" the most mechanically efficient design that wastes the least energy and recovers the most.

It's not really fair, because Toyota's way is pretty much the best possible way to do it, but it's not like nobody else is smart enough to design a system that works like Toyota's does. Ford did it--the mechanical concept is basically just a differential working backwards. But since Toyota patented it first, everybody else has to pay royalties to Toyota if their system resembles Toyota's in any way. It is what it is though.

I wish my favorite car company (I've owned more Hondas than every other make combined) would just license the superior hybrid design from Toyota and be done with it. Then there would be a Honda hybrid that I'd actually buy.

Looks great to me.
The beauty is in the practicality. The car is insanely massive inside. For all the people who think it has weird proportions, it is so you can get more shit inside of it.
Great cars.

I don't think this is ugly but I guess between this and the note which I've seen in person id maybe take the note. The current fit honestly looks weird since the nose is longer and weird looking on the american version. So this is still a good improvement

I dig it. Had I not just bought a small hatch and were still in the market, I'd totally take a look at this. I didn't care for the old one, though... the window angle and driver view bothered me for some reason.
