BARF!!! WTF?!?

http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2015-ford-mustang-rendered-detailed-future-cars

From the looks of things, it sounds like they will be completely getting rid of the V6 in some markets in favor for a turbo 4.

A turbocharged, direct-injected 2.4-liter four will relieve an upgraded version of today’s 3.7-liter V-6 of its mantle as 30-plus-mpg champ. Mimicking the EcoBoost’s role in the Edge and Explorer, the 250-plus-hp four-cylinder will be priced higher than the more powerful base V-6 Mustang and be positioned as a balance between sport and fuel efficiency.

On top of that, it now just looks like another japanese/euro car. I don't know if you guys agree but I really hope the real car looks nothing like that rendering.

Kinda looks like they were trying to copy an Aston Martin model or something.

Looks nice. I'd buy it (if it actually looked like that). But not sure Mustang purists would buy it.

I'm gonna have to agree here. I like it.

Mustang needs a change. Retro thing is played out and they need a breath of fresh air.

Meh... Maybe I can afford a 12 gt 5.0 one day since they will be the old style once this comes out?

First the Fusion, now this.
Seems someone is using the acquired AM Design-DNA as much as possible.

The Ford CEO (or whatever) told Motor Trend that he "wouldn't buy it". So I think it's safe to say this won't be the next Mustang.

They need to stick with the retro look, and not listen to the idiots who want "originality"... Come on, originality for the sake originality is stupid. The retro design cues with a modern twist have been a huge success, because the alternative is cars that all look like they were styled by a wind tunnel.

I like it. It looks like the DB9 and BRZ had a baby.

And I for one think they should tastefully abandon the retro look. Yawn. It's the 21st Century.

The Mustang looks like a 21st century car... It only takes the best styling cues from the original-- the long hood with short front overhang, lots of rear overhang, clean beltline, forward raked fascia, etc. The concept looks like an Aston Martin, but it also looks like every other car now, because they ALL copied Aston.

I don't want musclecars to go back to the cab forward looks-like-everything-else garbage we had in the 90s.

Ford has been taking a lot of their design ques from European cars. Cars like the Quatroporte and Vantage. It does feel like a step backward, especially with the 250hp i4 engine. I can see this as being right at home as the next Taurus or Lincoln MKZ. It's not a Mustang though. The Mustang isn't a sports car or a grand tourer, it's a pony car. Square front and back, big engines, designed for straight line performance.

I like everything about the first post. No retro garbage. Or worse than that, their latest Mustang tweaks, which make it look like what I would call 'retro down syndrome.'

And it's about damn time we got the SVO back.

I've been dreaming about "scaled down" version of Mustang.

Light, powerful 4 cyl turbo, rwd and a low price tag please.

Mustangs are just too heavy for my taste, although I can't say I wouldn't want the new 5.0 (just an amazing engine).

Lack of power is something I can work with/live with....weight on the other hand, there is just no way around that.

I like it. overall I am not a mustang guy, but I have always thought about owning one... then I look at the lack of IRS, the fugly rear end, played out retro styling and I really have no desire to.

the rendering looks good IMHO, and if they can sort out my other dislikes, I think they'll have a proper evolution for the car. I personally think ditching the V6 in favor of a turbo'd 4 will bring in new buyers. They need to keep the weight down on the next gen. I like the way ford is going, should be interesting

Imagine if the 911 didn't continue the same heritage styling decade after decade. It would be lame and look just like every other car.

Generic-izing the Mustang would be a huge mistake.

Raj Nair, the global product development VP, already said this won't be the next Mustang.

Somehow they'll manage to make that light and sporty looking car that just screams handling into a 4000lbs pig.

They should call this the *Fusion Coupe* or *Thunderbird*, and make it handle like a Euro car. But make the new Mustang still based of the retro design and make it a pure muscle car. Then Ford will have both.
