Nope. I test drove a Focus Titanium two summers ago and they put me off so bad that I didn't even bother driving the new Fusion before buying my Camry even though I really like the car. Are you listening Ford?

Buying the Toyota was hassle free and there was zero pressure.

There is no excuse for the bullshit they put you through at some of these places.

In 2011 when I was looking at buying a 5.0 they had on the lot I was turned off so bad by Galpin that I didn't even want to bother with it again. Dealing with their internet sales people was akin to walking through a middle eastern bazaar.

Same applies in 2012 when my uncle bought a Fiesta, was passed over from sales person to sales person to sales person to finally this guy who looked like he was a bouncer on the side came in and pretty much made me feel like I was stealing it from him and that the fact we bought it for under invoice means that he wont be able to take any money home today. What a tool.

Hyundai is equally as bad from what I hear second hand, but I haven't seen it myself.

Conversely, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi and Chevy all were top notch. No pressure, easy going, no back and forth bickering at all.

Opposite experience here with Toyota and Ford in San Jose (Stevens Creek). That dealership was miles above the Toyota experience I had. Still got a Toyota, but at a different dealership.

A couple of years ago my wife and I went to Stevens Creek Toyota because my wife wanted to look at Camrys. It seemed like the sales people there did not even want to deal with us because we weren't of a certain ethnic background. .

Actually every dealer you go to has this type of pressure. You just have to go in there and tell them what you like the price, color if not goodbye.

I went to a toyota once and showed them the ad of the new car. Guy says it still available and I told him lets close the deal because I want the price on the ad. He starts with the sales pressure , my credit report etc etc then I said I am walking out. Then his associate stopped me and made a straight forward deal. No BS. Done in 20 minutes with salesperson. The only thing the took forever was the finance where they ask you all this question if you want to add crap witht the car like teflon, tint, alarm etc. Since I got the car in such a good deal I just sat through the whole spiel and said no to everything. I felt bad for the finance guy that he wasn't doing anything all day so I just sat there and entertained his question for one and half hour. It was so long of a spiel the saleperson thought something happen with the deal so he interrupted the finance guy so I can go home. LOL

This is the first muscle car I have ever lusted after. I think Ford did a fantastic job here. No, it is not going to be an Audi inside...but the interior looks decent, and the exterior looks fantastic. So they finally have mixed a beautiful car with the great drivetrain from the last model and finally some modern suspension bits.

Way to go Ford!

+1. It is amazing to think that it took them this long to bring IRS for whole model range, when its advantages are pretty apparent compared to solid rear axle.

Based on the official release pictures from Ford and the details about the new V8 getting parts from the BOSS 302 engine, I'm pretty excited. I'm still trying to decide what my next car will be. The stingray us up there... but I really like this new mustang (and obviously I would save quite a bit with a GT vs a 2LT stingray).

Just to be fair, I have had some HORRID service from Toyota dealers over the year...and I have driven/bought my fair share of Toyotas over the years (Corolla in high school...wagon baby, Camry in college, Tacoma a couple cars ago, and now a 4Runner). Now I am sure Ford dealerships can suck just as bad...but the one where my parents live is great and has treated them very well in the past when they did own a Ford product. My point is that dealership experience can vary and is not necessarily specific to a brand (with the exception of brands like Lexus and Jaguar who put an enormous amount of focus on providing a similar level of service and customer satisfaction across the board).

That being said, if my local dealership was a complete sh!tshow of an operation, that would certainly turn me off. It did when I was looking at Mazda back in the day. But I've been to much better Mazda dealerships since.

I think it's gorgeous! Very impressed.

One thing I will never understand is why people are do desperate to say what they think every single new car looks like... looks like this.. looks like that.. holy shit who cares? It's almost like a competition for some people.

Now that Ford has put an IRS into the Mustang, maybe some where in the future Ford is going to build a proper luxury car to compete in the world market, at least in the U.S market.

The new Mustang looks ugly and boring to me. Full disclosure, I'm a Camaro owner, but that has nothing to do with it. I liked current model Mustang much better.

p.s. Ford really needs to stop making the front of their cars look like a largemouth bass. Terrible design.

Ecoboost is good branding. Breaks the stereotype of an American muscle car being a fuel hog.

Except that if you use the boost much, you might as well have bought the bigger NA engine...

I'd probably still rather have the 2.3T over the V6 in the mustang. The turbo will pick up quite a bit of power with just simple aftermarket bolt-ons and a tune. The V6 likely won't have that advantage.

But yeah, your underlying point is very good.... you won't get magical fuel econ... unfortunately I'm not able to get the ecoboost V8 yet...

If that i4 comes in at the rumoured 300hp level I'd be curious just how much could be left in it. Maybe up to 400 if your lucky and do some turbo work? I'd be a bit surprised if it did come in at that level, I'm thinking more in the mid 200's though.

Either way, its time for me to start saving for a 2015 mustang gt! ^_^

Ford will likely be marketing the 2.3T as a fuel economy option, as they do with the 3.5L Ecoboost engine in the F150. It probably will not be a first year option, though.

The 2.3T or the 5.0 would be my engine choices, depending on how the 2.3T actually turns out in production form. It could end up slower than the V6, when it really shouldn't be, given it's low end torque.

I can't wait to test drive one of these babies. I think it looks sexay.

Paddle shifted 6 speed, tunable IRS and a stout Turbo 4? Yes Please!! I'll bet this one turns out to be a track day monster. Let's go corner carving ala SVO style!!

But the real question for me is how will the GT stack up against the 2014 Z/28 (which apparently is better on road courses than even the vaunted Boss 302)

It better be because when the pricing comes out you're going to find it costs about twice what the boss 302 did when they made it.

I like it. I really like the retro exterior the last gen had, but it's getting old.
This looks modern and aggressive without looking like macho boy racer Michael Bay Camaro silly.

huh? that rear looks like a 60s era sports car.

Without knowing anything about the engine it's really hard to say. I have an Evo x where the stock turbo flows about 39lb/min and the stock rating is 291hp/300tq. It's pretty easy to put out over 400bhp (crank hp... not WHP) with basically a tune, high flow cat / exhaust, 3 port boost control noid, and a drop in panel filter. People are hitting 400whp on E85 and around 360ish whp on pump. Spend $2k for a larger stock frame turbo and you are WELL above that.

I don't know what size turbo they are going to put on the stang, so that's really what it depends on. If they try to go for nearly instant torque with a small turbo that falls off at the top, then you probably won't see huge potential for extra HP on the stock turbo. On the flip side, that would probably force them to build the bottom end pretty stout and a turbo swap isn't really all that difficult or expensive.

That said, I'm still buying a GT (or higher when the special editions are out) if I decide to go with a mustang. Turbo cars are fun, but I want something different. If it was a TT straight 6 I might consider that over the coyote... but the coyote really is an awesome engine!

The 2.0L ecoboost is at the mid 200's already, so the 2.3L should be well above that. Wiki lists it at 276hp, which is disappointing if true. The 300ft lbs of torque will be nice.

We have 2.0T engines in the high 200's now in stock form. In the Caddy ATS it has 272hp and 260tq. In the Opel Insignia it has 247hp and 300tq.

So it looks like a modern 2.0T is capable of 275hp and 300tq in stock form.

I would expect the larger 2.3T to do better. Marketing will probably hobble it.
