I like the '12-14's better. They aren't trying as hard. SE models of current version are nice looking cars. They are sort of like the '04'ish version of the Acura TL's to me in terms of balancing reserved styling with a dash of sporty.

I like it. As long a car looks better than Jules' car, works for me! I don't understand the fog light decision. Why make it so not aerodynamic? In a race to make cars more efficient, car auto manufacturers still stick to angled designs which makes no sense.

Aerodynamics are close to irrelevant in the front. How a car eliminates turbulence in the rear is far more important.

So those 'dams' are meant to deflect air around wheel wells?

Agree with another poster that the upcoming Sonata looks much better.

Personally I think modern auto styling is the worst it was been since the big tail fin days of the late 50's (possiby discounting the "I'm more macho than you" era of Dodges where everything looked like a RAM), and now Camry is jumping on the same bandwagon. Pimp up the car with lots of phony swopes, macho grilles, etc.

You must be kidding. You know there was such thing as the 80's and 90's, right? Blocky sedans into jellybeans.
Once upon a time the Ford Mustang looked like an upsized Escort.

THIS is MY kind of grill for the LE...not normally a blingbling kinda guy, ( I debadged the Camry) but THIS I like...it is so much stronger than either of the grills we've seen so far on the Camry...

I can see this as a factory grill for the XLE to distinguish it from the LE and SE/XSE...quite distinguished, (in both meanings, different and "classy") don't you think...

I bet given the design of the stock LE grill, that this chrome fascia would snap on quite easily....

No kidding. Let's try to maintain a little perspective here.

I give you exhibit a)

And exhibit b)

the only wide mouth design that i think looks decent is the lancer

even then its still a little jarring esthetic. i dont understand why so many are imitating it.

I really like that "shark mouth" (or old fighter jet) type grill on my Lancer Sportback. Best looking feature on the car imo. The one Toyota is sticking on the Corolla and Camry is hideous.

No, both ends matter. Simple fact is pushing a wedge though the air is better than pushing a block through it.

Indeed.

Notice how the shape with the gradual taper in the rear has 80% less aerodynamic drag than the one with the taper in the front. A gradual taper in the front is only a little better than a sphere.

The front isn't completely irrelevant, just mostly.

Nature finding the best shape:

...or like...

...which makes me laugh with I see cargo carriers atop cars with the sloped end facing forward...

Some things that just rub me the wrong way:
Black plastic on the front bumper posing as a grill.
Black plastic on the C-pillar posing as a side window.
It's just not authentic to overcome design shortcomings by using tacked-on non-functional plastic fake pieces. If rear window line looks bad, go back and redesign it, don't just fake it. Good design should look good in raw metal. I can look past the bumper one since everyone is doing it, and bumpers are plastic anyways, but the C-pillar thing is just ugh.

0kay, okay....I understand it's not for everyone...but I have to.....
I've been looking at my photoshopped grill and decided it needed tweaking...matching the color of the bumper a bit better to the car's color...

Not a fan of the huge mouth design, not sure where that came from or why it became so popular.

I like the look of my 2012 Ford Focus hatchback but I'm not a fan of the large black plastic grill/mouth.

I'm with you on both counts....I actually prefer the vanilla/invisible styling of my 05...a good thing since I expect to be riding it for 10+ years...I'm not sure any of these "modern" aggressive stylings will be "easy on the eyes" after a couple of years.
