And that hasn't really changed--except that it has gotten slightly worse compared to the 90s

I was pretty excited about Miami this year, but their team just never came together... Injuries and what-not...

So GS thrashes the Thunder in Game 2. I guess that means there is no longer any parity?

If one game = parity, then one game can remove parity, right?
Well, Steph happened and it was competitive until he went off. That's what MVPs do, they put the team on their back and carry them. Parity means nothing when Steph is firing on all cylinders. If Steph is having an off day like Game 1, that is when the parity shows. But Steph is Neo in the Matrix, when he's on there's nothing that can beat him or his team.

First, there was an open 3 off a screen. Then Durant fouled Curry on a corner trey and incurred a technical foul for his protestations (four points). After that, Curry pump-faked Serge Ibaka in the air and fired another triple as his gaze lingered on the out-of-position big man. Next, he fired up a foot-on-the-line 2. Finally, to close, a deep leaner off a Draymond Green screen. Before this happened, the Warriors had been leading by 10. In under two minutes, they were running with a 20-point blowout. Curry finished with 28 points on 9-for-15 shooting.

One of a few unique aspects to Curry’s game is that he warps the game itself. He puts life on fast-forward as everyone’s attention is drawn to him. Another team can steadily build something, over time, that he knocks over like sandcastles.

Oklahoma City let this one get away and likely will bring more focus to the Curry assignment at home. The Thunder will have to. A few lapses are fatal when a man can score so quickly.

The things that are said about Steph are the same things I feel about Durant... It's not like there aren't other players in the league that can just take over a game. Heck, Westbrook just did it in game 1. I want to see a game like the one earlier in the season where both Durant and Steph were firing on all cylinders.

OKC has to control the boards again, starting by taking much better shots, so GS can't get out and run, which is brutal to guard.

So Durant or Westbrook scored 15 straight points in Game 1 to put the other team away? Not that I recall. Nor can I recall someone scoring 17 in an OT period to put a team away like Steph. Teams struggle with GS without Steph, let alone him going supernova. It's unbeatable, even if Durant was on, they'd still lose by double digits last night.

I will concede that if both Durant and Westbrook are on, then it could counter Steph going crazy.

I'm not saying Steph isn't the best at it. But there are numerous players in the NBA that can go on scoring streaks. Durant can go nuts from 3-point land some games just like Steph, and Westbrook can certainly take over a game at times. That's why the Thunder are a terrifying team for the Warriors.

This is the difference. . GS calls timeouts the second an opponent starts getting momentum. OKC never does this. I don't get it.

Kerr deserves as much credit for winning as Curry. Kerr doesn't let opponents go on 10 point runs.

Yeah, OKC got smoked on the boards last night. 46-32 IIRC.
That is weird. They're the best rebounding team in the NBA. They out-rebounded GS by 30 in the Feb. 27 squeaker OT game in OKC.

Just like Steph? I don't think so. He's a great 3 point shooter, even hits really long ones but amaze like Steph? I haven't seen it.

Anyway, I won't be watching the rest of this series. Monday was demoralizing, I'm not hanging out in some bar. I'll watch the finals on ABC.
Polar bears are safe! (for now)
Have you asked the polar bears? Times are tough.

The OKC starters out-rebounded GS starters, but the OKC subs (8) got destroyed by GS subs (22).

(GS subs played only 10% more minutes than OKC subs, 102-92 minutes)

/edit: Polar bears don't respond to my calls or text. I suspect they are ice hockey fans.

I dislike this thread degrading into a "how great is Steph" argument, there's already a thread for that. While KD is phenomenal in his own right, nobody is as efficient as Steph at scoring or warps the defense as much as he does. Draymond Green would arguably be a solid starter without Curry; with Curry he's blossomed into an All-Star. I don't mean to demean Green who has worked really hard to maximize his game, but Curry strikes such extreme fear in the defense that just about everybody else around him looks better.

There have always been elite scorers in the NBA, so yes any great scorer can go off at any time. Few are ever as singularly dominant as Curry currently is, think young Wilt or young MJ scoring at will. The difference is that you get "extra credit" for the 3-ball. Having said that, jump shooting can be streaky and Curry does need teammates' screens to get better looks (in addition to creating fairly good looks off his dribbling).

Phil Jackson was famous for not calling TOs and letting his team play on during stressful moments.

Raptors play a very good team game, and while they are trailing all but about a minute of the first half they keep it very close...until a couple minutes left then the bottom falls out.

Should be interesting if they can come out after half and level themselves or put it at a lock for another 4 game series.

Foul count 17-7 at the half. Whether they are being outplayed, or not permitted to drive or defend, that's the key stat.

Is anyone else hoping for a Cavs vs GS finals, again? I am.

I am, I know GSW's playing better this season then they did last season. But last years finals were very competitive, especially with Love & Irving out. I know the betting favorite's The Warriors, but I don't see how they could play that much better than last year. Freaking Lebon damn near had a triple double tonight by halftime. I predict 4-1 Cavs, but it probably will be much closer than I'm thinking.

You're correct of course, but my whole point was that regardless of how good Curry is, it's feasible that KD or Russ or both could have a game to match him. That's what's scary about this match-up and why Golden State's bench must continue to play well.

A Cavs-Warriors series would be really interesting at the moment. You'd have the best 3-point shooting team in history (Warriors) against the hottest 3-point shooting team in playoff history (Cavs). It's a tough call but I'd side Warriors though I hate to look past OKC...

Hoping? Are you "hoping" that the sun will rise tomorrow? Can't wait to see curry getting bitch slapped by the cavs
GS has bitch slapped the Cavs in almost every head2head matchup, yet you think the sun won't rise during that series? lol. The sun will continue to rise, my friend. GS is like Pedro's Daddy, the Yankees. Yes Lebron and the Cavs were good like Pedro but it won't matter when they mentally know who's their daddy.

I hope Cleveland loses in the most Cleveland way possible. Curry exploding in the final minutes of a game 7 in a 15 point come back and wins by buzzer better from 35 feet out.

The Cavs will be primed after walking thru the greatest parity era in the NBA while the Warriors will be going toe to toe with the greatest underachievers in the NBA in OKC. Its one for the ages? Sure why not?

Cleveland also lost twice each to Miami, Detroit and Toronto in the regular season. Think Cleveland cares about that? Regular season games != playoffs.
