It's funny all the Michigan fans on my Facebook and on here (or at least Ohio State haters, seems you love or loathe them, no middle-ground here folks) are complaining that the refs blew the game. Sorry, you know who blew the game? The players, perhaps especially Speight but the others as well. Turnovers lost the game for them, and OSU's defense was more than happy to capitalize. That's what they do, the OSU defense is waiting for your mistakes. They feed upon mistakes. And it wouldn't have even been a question if Mr. Automatic didn't miss two stupid easy field goals, at least easy for him any other night. Seems this game got him rattled him a bit.
Definitely curious how the committee is going to sort this one out. Not sure if we can glean much from the committee's rankings on Tuesday, as the championships still have to be played.
It's going to be a controversy no matter their decision. But I just don't see how they drop OSU from #2. They just had a hard-fought game against #3, and sure they didn't control their own destiny because they needed PSU to lose, but... does that justify dropping them from the playoff?
More than ever, they're going to demonstrate that the playoff needs to be 8 teams. 5 auto-seeds for the Power 5 conference champions, and then 3 at-large seeds. This should almost certainly result in the undisputed top 8 teams fighting for the championship. It's only one more game for the two teams who make it to the championship game.
