I think the front looks strange but I actually like the back. However, it sure has gotten large this generation. I'm just curious how loud it is on the highway.

Ancedotal, but I test drove a 16 touring and it was very loud on the highway. About equivalent to my 08 nissan versa. You have to keep in mind the civic is an economy car and they skimp on sound insulation. Also keep in mind Hondas are not, and have never been, known for quiet rides. Of course it really depends on your tolerance threshold...you may think it's quiet.

I hate it. I hate the swoopy roof line every car has now...

Cars are TINY on the inside now. Even though the cars are larger...

Hondas have never been quiet. Honestly my 2009 odyssey is uncomfortably loud sometimes.

I didn't have a car at the time but when I first spotted Honda Civics in the 1970s about town I thought to myself that a revolution was starting in the automobile industry. They looked so practical, they (like VW, etc. before them) didn't redesign them they way American cars did but improved them on an iterative basis. Great mileage, dependability. I think the Japanese, with their focus on QA were reinventing the automobile. Eventually Detroit caught on, also partnered with the Japanese.

My 2008 civic hybrid would get close 45 mpg going up and down the highway between Denver and Colorado Springs at 75-85 mph. This is not a flat stretch of highway. I did some hyper-mile runs and would get about 520 mile per tank.

I like the front of the car but the back end has too many angles.

Yeah, I'm aware after having some Hondas in my family. Just wondering if they worked on it. Focus and golf are pretty decent for their class.

I test drove a few small cars before I bought the civic. Ride quality and noise levels were much better in the civic. There isn't another small car in the price range that even comes close to the quality of the civic.

Why is it so big?

People are getting fatter and need more space...seriously though, folks seem to think every car has to be huge now. Mid-size today is WAY bigger than a family of 5 needed 20 years ago. I don't get it....big cars suck.

If they can make this with a scaled-down version of the Accord Hybrid's awesome transmission-less drivetrain, I'd be all over it.

Correct. A car does not need to be big in order to be quality or luxurious.

Finally seen one on the road the other day and have to agree with most that the rear especially the tail lights is hideous.

A longer wheelbase always translates into better ride quality. Ride quality is a big part of luxurious feel.

Put better suspension on it. Problem solved.

I personally don't even need a butter soft ride. I just want a small car that is also built like a Rolls.
