The Chrysler is brand new and is basically an unknown. Chrysler quality is up there these days, I wouldn't discount them based on what they were doing in the year 2000.

I have my own personal experience that says they're god awful. You can ask Kaido too

Not only do they produce garbage, their customer service to deal with that garbage is also straight up terrible. It was so bad it made Comcast look competent. Friends don't let friends buy Chrysler

We replaced our '07 Ody with a '15 Ody a year and a half ago and my wife was all about the vacuum. At the time it was only available in the upper level trims and I told her there was no way in hell we were paying an extra $8K-$10K for a vacuum - I'd be more than happy to install a rechargeable one in the back for well under $50. When I went to do it she said, "nah, I'll let you know if I need it". Still vacuumless...

I thought the vaccuum was a dumb idea, yes if the kids spill goldfish and you are on a trip you have to pick them up by hand, otherwise there is no way that battery powered vaccuum is going to be strong enough like a shop vac to get a real cleaning done on the interior.

Source? every one I've read puts them near the bottom still in quality.

It's fairly well known... after Fiat took control their initial and long term quality is wayyy up. Really I feel like you're baiting though - anyone who actually keeps up with the automotive press knows this. Chrysler has improved by leaps and bounds - it's not really a debatable thing at this point.

Uh, how can you ignore two him when he recently dumped a crappy Chrysler product? I'm amazed Kaido is as patient as he is given all the issues he's had with his Renegade. The issues aren't made up.

Plus, the issues with the ZF 9-speed aren't limited to Chrysler either. Frankly, I'm surprised Honda decided to use that trans.

Chrysler may have improved from where they were, but the rest of the big players in the industry have improved too so they're still at the bottom.

They haven't been with fiat long enough for long term reliability to even be known at this point, so unless you have a time machine you can't possibly know... So are just making things up

I haven't seen Chrysler be any less reliable than the other make's new products (this isn't including vehicles that haven't been redesigned 100% in the last 3-5 years). The EPA demands more, and all we can do is be guinea pigs for the stuff.

That being said, I have a new 2016 Jeep Patriot High Altitude 4x4 that I just bought last week, because I wanted to have something a little more tested. I'm glad to be done with the 2014 Ford Fiesta. Loved the car, but that transmission made me want to kill people every time I ran through the city (which is 99% of my driving).

I've got a few friends with the new Pacifica, no issues to report yet, one has 20,000 miles, the other only has like 5K on it.

Holy crap, since when are minivans $40,000+?

Since 150/1500 pickups started costing 60K+. It's well known vehicles are alot more expensive. You can still get stripper models, but if you want to actually enjoy any of the new advancements in tech, you have to pay a pretty salty price. Vehicles have seemed to stagnate compared to computers. In Computers, new speed/tech because the standard in 2-3 years. In cars it just seems the new stuff becomes part of the base price instead.

Try over $50k for a Odyssey touring elite and some additional baubles like trailer hitch, roof rack, and bike attachment.

Can buy two dodge grand caravans for that price so when one is in the shop you have a backup.

Yeah but it's still crazy to spec up your minivan like that unless you just have money to burn. As mentioned in another thread, our '15 Odyssey EX-L was under $30K (sticker $33K), whereas the Elite Touring stickered closer to $45K. For that extra ~$12K, you got: nav (questionable value these days), vacuum (good rechargeable is $50), drop-down video screen (well under $500 installed if you want it), fog lights (ok), and maybe a couple of other things - certainly not $12,000 worth.

My family is suffering with our Honda Odyssey EX model and its lack of a DVD player. What is cutting edge about a DVD player?

My lemonmobile is going back in the shop tomorrow as a matter of fact

I am very frustrated, but I understand the situation, and my options are limited in what I can do at the moment (wait to hit the lemon-law requirements & get legal involved, sell out early & lose a ton of money, deal with the issues until it depreciates, or just keep it & deal with the problems forever). My local dealer service department has been absolutely fantastic in trying to fix my issues, but they simply can't fix what they don't have solutions for. The only tools the techs really have are the ability to wipe the onboard computers & do a reset, and the ability to flash upgrades as they become available. I've been in contact with Chrysler's support group as well due to the number of visits & weird issues; their team is "working on it" since a small percentage of vehicles share my issues, but again, shame on me for buying a first-gen car from a manufacturer with a history of quality-control issues. I've learned my lesson

If you are willing to risk Chrysler quality, a grand Caravan is a lot of bang for your buck. Neighbor has one and friend of mine recently pickled up one brand new for 19K. It's a 50\50 chance when it comes to Chrysler.

High 20's gets you a Sedona's and Quests but that unfortunately leads you into Kia dealerships, Kia Service departments

They have a REALLY good seat system in those Dodges (Stow & Go I think is the name?), but yeah...we had a Caravan growing up & it was a total pile of crap, sooooo many issues

buy a used iPad and call it a day?

We already have a tablet, a splitter and two headphones so UV movies in HD work just fine, or we can Bluetooth the audio to the vehicle speakers.

I was thinking about your post last night and it really sank in. What do you get for all that money? I cannot imagine how i would get $12K worth of upgrades. But i know the car manufacturers make a lot more money on those upper tier trim packages.

My wife and I only spent $10K in upgrades to our house with a base price if $267K.
