I currently game on an asus VX24ah(2560*1440) with an r9 390 nitro , the card is good it runs silent and cool and gives me very good fps(40+) on ultra with games prior to 2016. It will give me very good fps for 2012-2015 games but not with 2016 and futur games. I'm waiting for Vega to upgrade since i am planing on getting a 1440/60hz so if you guys can recommend me a good monitor under 350euros (400$), it would be great. Sorry for bad english.

IMO best to see if HDR monitors start showing up in 2017. I was thinking about an upgrade but monitors last so long I think I'd regret missing out on more photorealistic colors for potentially several years.

Granted I'd be pleasantly surprised if 1440/60Hz HDR comes anywhere close to $400 in 2017. But even if they are expensive they should drive down pricing on non-HDR displays.

This should have been posted in the Displays section... http://forums.anandtech.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72
You looking for a TN, IPS, or something else?

Oops... Im kinda new here and in hw in general. Before buying my monitor (IPS) i remember i did a little research and from what i found IPs panels have better view angles while having higher response time (correct me if im wrong). So if those are the major differences then i m going for IPS again.

Well i found one wich costs 320euros but it uses TN tech (Iiyama ProLite B2783QSU-B1 ). Btw do you guys have any idea how good are Iiyama's monitors ?

What displays you guys use TN panel or IPS ? Is the difference too noticeable ? do you think Freesync/TN is better than a normal IPS display?

IPS/MVA looks noticeably better than TN and much better viewing angles, but the refresh times are worse. Some people like TN for gaming because of that but I'm a gamer and I prefer having a monitor that looks good and I don't notice a difference in smoothness with my friend's 120 hz TN.

I will say that imo MVA looks better than IPS though, but either are much better than TN.

I know two people with this monitor and it's really nice, http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014372 but it's also more like $500 US

If you're waiting for Vega you want a 2560 x 1440 90+ Hz non-TN monitor. TN has terrible blacks and color shift. I know because I have an IPS monitor in front of me and my old TN monitor right next to it.

Also, there's no point to getting Vega and not getting more than 60 Hz @ 1440. All the extra GPU power would be wasted doing 2560x1440 @ 60fps. My guess is that Vega is designed for 4k @ 60fps or 2560x1440 @ 120fps.

HDR + 4K + Freesync and you are set for a lifetime. But that will probably cost a fortune.

For the Gpu i may not even wait for Vega, amd has already started cutting down prices of the 390 series. The 390 nitro sells for 270euros and the w.c 390x is for 340euros i will wait a little longer and see if price of the r9 390x devil goes below 300 and grab one if not i will buy a second nitro. The reason for what i want to get the r9 390x to cf with 390 is that is has very nice temps and i haven't found any benchmark showing the temps of the r9 390 in cf.

When buying an IPS read reviews to discover if the monitor is known for "back light bleed" or "IPS glow." It ruins the monitor's black reproduction if the IPS glow is bad.
