Ended up getting clouded out completely, had to haul tail to a new location just 2 minutes before totality. Got the full eclipse and the second diamond ring before clouds ate it up again.

Still was well worth it, can't wait until 2024!

@Red Squirrel Those last two shots are quite striking, unfortunately the clouds made the light diffuse enough that we didn't get any of that or shadow bands...

Best shot I could get via IR pass filter. Didn't want to fool with camera too much and miss it.

I need to look at investing in an actual telescope though, and then a DSLR mount. Could get pretty awesome pics with that compared to my cheap lens. haha.

Thanks, yeah with it peeking through the clouds with a giant thunderhead nearby was pretty apocalyptic. Really wish I could have captured it all.

My sister got decent shots with a simple Canon Powershot SX30 point-and-shoot with 30x zoom. She had totality though.

I got basically nothing because I did nothing to prepare, and had no filter, and no friendly clouds to filter the sun. BTW, clouds can make for a striking eclipse shot.

cool shots. some are blurred. what happens if we see the solar eclipse with naked eyes?

Problem for me at least when photographing the eclipse was that you need a pretty long focal length lens. At the moment of totality the corona is about the brightness of the full moon, so that means you need a tripod too. If you are also running from clouds it makes things... interesting.

To the naked eye everything is sharp, almost artificially so at around C2 and C3.
