Vikings fans represent!

I friggen hate the Saints and hate Sean Payton. Vikings may not have been the better team today, but we were well overdue for a miracle given how painful it is to be a Vikings fan in general.

Been a Vikings fan for 40 years... Maybe one other game came close in the early 80's... But this game was such a roller coaster ride near the end with such an incredible finish. Crazy! We played a great 1st half and deserved to win. Respect to Drew Brees for being a great player - ditto to Case Keenum being cool under pressure. Great local call of the last play of the game:

Congratulations, that was one of the best games I've ever seen. I have the flu and was sick as a dog and the whole second half of that game was so entertaining it made me feel better for a brief couple hours. I just really hope that after you crush the eagles that you can somehow beat the Patriots at home.

Wow...finally got time to watch the Saints/Vikings game...what a game. Hard fought by both teams...right to the final seconds.
I'm glad Minnesota won. After Bountygate, I stopped having any respect for N.O..

people acting like no one has ever missed a tackle before

this shit is comical

The guy definitely messed up but the defensive call definitely didn't make sense. The scheme made it possible for one guy to mess up and lose the game.

This is for Pats fans -

No, it's actually for yourself, your preparing your excuses in case NE wins another SB. Anyone with the IQ above a toaster-oven would realize the last thing the league want's is another NE SB win, rating's would tank. Do carry on with "conspiracy" crap though, it's amusing to see moron's at play!.

I am wondering how concerned he was at hitting a defenseless receiver. Maybe he went in full bore going to pop him and then realized to late that he'd get hammered with a penalty if he did. Taking out his teammate as well probably wasn't what he was planning on doing, but that was the end result of the new flag football league.

I was hoping (and knowing it was a 1 in a million chance) for a Bills vs. Vikings Super Bowl. 0-4 vs 0-4. That didn't happen, but I'd still like to see Minnesota take it all. Go, Vikings!

With a playoff game on the line, you bet that was huge. It was poor decision to even lunge forward like that. If you're playing prevent defense, you're better just keeping your feet planted, have your opponent recognize your presence, while your teammate(s) come help you. That move is comical in that it took out his only teammate nearby preventing any chance of a stop.

It was a bad move and it was his fault, but we don't need to crucify the guy. He made some good plays earlier and went out and took his lumps in the media. He clearly feels bad and he needs our support. Saints fans are resilient and the future looks bright. I hope he doesn't take it too hard and let it define his career.

Why would ratings tank because of NE? They've been in most of the most watched Super Bowls. Lots of people seem to hate watch them, hoping to see them fail like they did against the Giants. And the other times they put on good shows (down to the wire games, including that come from behind one last year). Seems making sure NE is part of the Super Bowl is a recipe for success actually...

Fact is, NE had a lot of controversial calls go their way. I don't think its a grand conspiracy to help them win, but acting like you can't figure out why that bugs people is just dumb as hell. Which I get sick of that bitching myself. I recall trying to tell people when they were going apeshit about the replacement refs that they do the same thing with the normal ones and people just "STFU, nuh-uh" and then, big whoop, the biggest complaints is about the refs. Every, single, fucking, year. But when a team consistently benefits from controversial calls, people are going to get sick of it. Simple as that.

Plus, JHumeC, some of you wonder why people fucking hate you Pats fans? Can you fuckers ever just take a fucking joke? Or does literally every time your team does something it has to end up being a full on federal court case? Because that's what is making people sick is how instead of NE going "fuck it, punish us, we'll still win", they drag it out for months and months, during which time people get sick of hearing about it.

I can only imagine what you assholes are gonna be like when its revealed that Brady's "fountain of youth" was more than stretching and diet. It'll be like Lance Armstrong all over again where you idiots will still try to deny it probably even after he admits to it (which I'm sure he won't because he's a douche like that, as was Peyton, as were the baseball shitheads copping the same even when caught red-handed). That will almost inevitably happen, and it'll be the same old routine, deny deny deny, no matter the evidence, followed by "well it didn't even matter", blah, blah, blah, then finally "well everybody else was too!!!"

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. The whole thing is a farce. Its a fucking made up game, played by physically gifted people who tear the hell out of their bodies for a bit of fame and chance at non-trivial amount of money (that they'll be far too likely to waste), being exploited by billionaires to milk money out of morons that invest their lives in shit they have fucking nothing to do with (well other than being their cash cows). Enjoy the spectacle of the farce, but never forget how much of a farce it truly is.

Who am I kidding, go bet on it, then bitch because they didn't cover the point spread and cost you money, or use it to justify whatever conspiracy bullshit you want to peddle, or validate your persecution complex, or excuse for getting drunk and beating your wife. Its the American way.

I live right on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border and have lots of Facebook friends that root for either team. Yesterday hammered home the point that Packer fans are some of the biggest a-holes. I've never seen so many messages on my wall about the Saints taking out the Viqueens etc. Even when they are not in it anymore the Packer fans like to make it all about them.

Whoever advances I just want to see hard fought battles and not blowouts, and I sure as hell don't want officiating to have anything to do with the outcomes of the remaining games.

But the "fact is" there were a number of controversial call's that Al Riveron overturned that did not involve the Pats, somehow when they DO favor the Pats the "ref's on the payroll" pop's up. I could be wrong with the Pats + the SB but nonetheless I find it laughable to think Ref's are told to "cheat" for NE. Oh, I don't bet on games or beat up women, just because someone likes Pro football does not mean they are a knuckle-dragger.

I love when people bitch about the Pats. It's nothing more than hating. I can see people being annoyed with their fanbase though, but everyone has annoying fans.

While I am not a fan of them and never have been, I can appreciate greatness and wish that my team had a fucking iota of what the Pats have. I hope they win it all this year and I hope they rape the Jags and (hopefully) the Viks in the Super Bowl. I just really REALLY hope the Eagles don't win this weekend.

Greatness is just polarizing. The same thing is going on with the NBA right now. People pretty much either love or hate the Warriors. Same goes with Lebron - people pretty much either hate him or love him.

Personally I thought it foolish for some of the Steeler players to speak of "beating NE", they were acting like playing the Jags was just a formality. I was thinking "WTF", this Jax team is just so good on defense and play with a physical punishing style plus they had already beaten you, (convincingly) earlier in the season.
Pathetic gamesmanship. You look at Belichick, his comments about Tennessee. Typical modern smart comments -- everything he said pre-game was a compliment of his opponent, in every aspect. He didn't mention anything about them about which he didn't express strong, profound admiration.

That's the modern way, butter them up before the game and then beat their ass into submission. All competitive athletes should adopt that principle. A lot of times it isn't done. But it isn't insults that gains victory, it's outplaying your opponent.

The Steelers, OTOH, just blew it completely. The commentators put it differently, saying the Steelers were "obsessed with beating New England." They were soft peddling the truth which was that the Steelers were looking past the Jaguars. They had a serious attitude problem, at least some of them.

Replay showed he didn't miss the tackle. His intent was to not make contact because he feared getting a pass interference call. If his timing was better he would have arrived after the ball and made the tackle.
Really. All he had to do was stay in front of the receiver. Just wait for the receiver to come down.
That ending was terrible and I was really sad for #43. Replays showed that he was definitely in a position to have tackled Diggs. Maybe there wasn't time to have coached up the secondary before the play, is what I have to think. He was aware that he didn't want to have a defensive penalty on the play or Minnesota was going to get another play, which would have been a field goal try, which if successful would have won them the game.

So his thought was not to touch Diggs, evidently because he realized that his hit was likely before the ball would get there. If there'd been time the secondary should have been told to stay behind the receivers, don't let them get out of bounds, and tackle. Catching the ball was no big deal as long as they didn't get a touchdown or get out of bounds before the clock expired because there were only 10 seconds on the clock before the play started and they had no timeouts.

It wouldn't shock me if the Pats lost on Sunday and yet I wouldn't be shocked if they won.

Agreed. But I'll be rooting for the Jags. I was rooting against them in the wildcard game but will root for them Sunday.

Jax is looking very strong so far and completely unfazed by the moment. Their D is flying to the ball with that great speed holding the Pats to just 3 points so far.
