The sprint has started. Dump 'em if you got 'em before the javelin throw ends in 1.5 hours!

I like that we got a medal this time, and I am thankful to our friendly and generous guests who made this possible.

Yet at the same time I am disappointed that OcOK were deprived of a medal, which they deserved here.

Yesterday I almost made a mistake: I went through my local task queues, saw some suspended half-finished NFS tasks, and thought about finishing them. But I aborted them and performed my WCG duties instead. Later I learned that I narrowly avoided (a) being part of the above mentioned offence to OcUK, but also (b) causing the NFS server to cancel other people's tasks in progress because mine would have went in after the deadline. That's an ongoing nuisance with NFS.

Re: the disappointment to OcUK; I can tell myself that they are tied with us, and that the GRC miners don't count anyway. But that's too lame for an actual excuse.

"Third best of the rest" would be a good reward for them. But yeah, really bad excuse.

It seems I may have made some mistakes due to being out of town with bad Internet, having poor communication with teammates, and lax resource management. I may owe an apology to OcUK and if so, will try to make it up somehow...?

No worries, we will make it up to them. If our comms page held more than 20 entries, it would be easier to track what's going on, we are filling that thing up FAST.

Amicable has GPU apps. They seem to work like running a Formula 1 car on a bumper car track - slowly and not very well.

Strange. I can't remember on which computers I ran Amicable Numbers before. (I must have run it in the past, since I have credits, and a badge even.) So I went to my user web page -> Computers on this account/ View -> Show all computers. But I get nothing shown there either.

Check your settings..... I have mine set to 23 instead of 20, AMD and Nvidia.

Starting with version 1.11 it's possible to set kernel size for your GPUs at the preferences page.

Default kernel size is 20. This is what version 1.10 used as well. Available kernel sizes range from 16 to 21.

Smaller kernel size reduces UI lags, but increases OpenCL API overhead and therefore is slower.
Decrease kernel size if your user interface is laggy/unusable when running GPU version.

Larger kernel size increases UI lags, but uses GPU more efficiently.
Increase kernel size if GPU load is less than 100% and you don't have UI lags or the GPU is not used for display output at all.

Minimal kernel size (16) has been tested with AMD Radeon HD 5450 - the slowest GPU I could find, and it works fine with very little lags.
Maximal kernel size (21) brings 98-100% load even to GeForce GTX 1080 at the cost of some UI lags. Setting it to 21 makes sense only for very powerful GPUs because it also uses quite a bit more memory.

You can use this setting to fine-tune GPU version performance on your computers.

Watch your CPU usage when feeding the GPU tasks, Ken.
Yeah, I've been doing that. I also figured out that continuing to run this on a GPU is probably not a good idea during the PrimeGrid race for the same reason.
