Yup the demands from the complainers, it really looks like they want a dictator instead of a president. So hope they are happy with orange monkey family rule if they don’t get their head out of the sand and just hold your nose and vote Biden in November.
The real cancer of authoritarians is the dissolution of the idea of democracy, that even if their authoritarian is the wrong one, a better authoritarian might be the right idea to fix the problems of society.

No, I just understand how we can and can't wield power in our presidential system with a fairly non responsive legislative branch. Also, nothing brings people to polls like being a doomer when times are both good and bad. Why do anything if everything is always going to suck? Why pander to a constituency if they won't award you with continued votes/power even if you get some of their desires enacted?
Who is being a doomer? The egg guy is but you quoted me. Having an honest political discussion among political nerds is now being a doomer? Oh wait, it's just when criticizing the party. If you can't criticize the party in a candid political discussion with other wonks, then there is no hope.

Nothing I said had anything to do with our fucked up government and paralysis of our legislative branch btw. Total imaginary nonsense to obfuscate the fact you can't take criticism of the party. Cult-like behavior.

No, they just want their $8 Big Mac combo back and they believe Trump can magically deliver it as POTUS.

What would be a rude surprise for them is that Trump’s proposed policies of huge deficits, massive tariffs, and mass deportation of immigrant labor that disproportionately works in food related areas would cause prices of all types to skyrocket, but fast food in particular.

Funny how some people are mad about inflation but then plan to show their anger for voting for the guy who would make inflation much, much worse.

It would still be Obama's Biden's fault.

At this point I think America wants a rapist to be in charge and will only wake up when a Big Mac is 57 dollars and inflation is at 300% and thousands of farms and other industries collapse. Thanks Obama

34X convicted felon Trump is bad news for Biden, right?

I don't know that it's bad news for Biden, but this just hardens the hardcore Magats. It just reinforces the morons that "they're out to get us" that Trump has fostered in them. The Magats were never going to vote for any Democrats. If anything, it might help Biden since it may give undecided voters pause on who to support.

Where are the calls for the GOP to simply replace Trump 34 who is presently ranting like an insane person in favor of a more electable candidate?

Not that they'd ever do it anyway, but the problem with a small-g narcissistic god in charge of your party is that now the party hardcare are in charge. I reckon that anyone super-electable against Biden right now would be 1)relatively young, he'd leverage that and 2) more moderate than Trump's far-right hateful rhetoric. You don't see too many of those types in the GOP anymore, because they would have been chased out for being RINOs.

In one sense, I welcome the GOP's plunge into insanity (from my perspective) because they really are going to have a hard time walking it back. I disagree with even a sane GOP on important issues (to me) like the environment, and really just about everything else. I want the damn party to dwindle. Abortion, now that they are the dog that caught the car, might lose them this election. The problem--they actually killed Roe v Wade, and still might actually win despite their insanity, which tells you a lot about this country. Hell, they are apparently making inroads with minorities, which is like chickens voting for Col. Sanders, but whatever man.

This was the source of my mistake thinking Trump would not be the nominee again. I figured the GOP cared more about winning than they did about Trump. Apparently not.

That wasn't your mistake. Your mistake, and one also committed by millions and millions of Democrats, is that you didn't understand the Republican party very well at all, overall. And that's why so many so-called 'intellectuals' of the Dem party got caught blindsided by Trump, and have taken way too long to figure the basics out over the last eight years as well.

They are a cult of personality centered around Christo-fascism with a focus on destroying women, minorities, non Christians and anyone with an iq above 75. They are terrible humans and the Orangalini simply gave them a perceived freedom to be open and public about their evil.

I forget who coined this phrase, but Dems "lack the creativity/imagination to try to figure out how Trump will subvert our institutions/laws."

Stupid people and conservative fascists coined that phrase.

Democrats do not lack the creativity or imagination to understand how and why Trump is subverting our country. But I'd go one step further and say it is Republicans, and very specifically the current Magat crowd, who are undermining this country.

The way to combat this is to use the very same underhanded tactics. Something that anyone with intelligence and the correct moral compass is loathe to do.

Unfortunately if SCOTUS does grant Biden unlimited presidential immunity, he won’t be sending out seal team 6 any time soon

Again, the issue is not that you are wrong about this. It is that you don't know why you are right, and that ignorance creates a fear state of panic that if you can't make others react with the same fear of that fact that you do, the sky will fall on all of us.

It's the same problem MrSquished has. He can see a class of Democrats who are out to lunch of the dangers the right pose and his frustration that not all Democrats are awake to the issue will lead to catastrophe.

But the truth is the sky already fell and knowing that is what we really fear. We fear the future will repeat the past but the past is gone forever and the future will never get here. There is only the now. Only the now is real. I just checked and one of my cats is asleep on the floor and the other is cleaning her paws. Neither of them has spent one single second worrying about Donald Trump. And since they are vastly more aware of their surroundings than I will ever be, I am betting everything is OK locally. How are you doing. I know a comet might end me in seconds but it hasn't shown up yet. And if it does ever second of dread about its coming will have been a waste of time I might have spent smelling the roses.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself and fear is the constriction of all emotion, the act of playing dead. What we fear is knowing we have played dead forever over events long past.

Know also that when you catastrophize irrationally, you drag others into the same pit, closer to their own inner truth they want to forget.

When you do not know the facts that motivate the psyche of people you can't point to a real way out. I can't, for example, make you see this. But I believe we are all the same.

We become what we fear. I watched Rachel Maddow on a special the other day and she said that there is no option for fighting for democracy than by deocratic means. Are you right, assuming you would do it despite being loathed to, or is she. That is the question for me. It's like, what brings justice, revenge of forgiveness. And if you could choose one or the other can you also act on that choice? I tell myself I prefer forgiveness but I know it's not that person who seems to be the one that drives my car.

The problem, of course, is the need to blame as a pretext for moral action. We feel best when we punish the wicked and not people who are simply brain dead zombies running a program of wich they have no awareness of at all.

You can never get revenge because you can never find anybody who is actually evil.

I don't believe the tolerant should be tolerant of the intolerant... thus it pains me how the democrats never fight fire with fire. Because a big fire starves a small fire of oxygen.........

but as an Australian and a massive benefactor of the current "rules based order" i really hope you guys dont fuck this up this year........

You're on the other side of the world. Imagine how we feel. Hell, if Trump wins another term, I think Mexico really will be willing to pay for that wall.
