You might look at the Toshiba Gigiabeat S... I just ordered mine (found the 60 gig version actually in stock and for a nice price of $345)

It uses the portable media center ui so the interface should be very good.

Head-fi threads. Some people call it bogus but there are several people who reported it and were amazed / baffled and weren't sure why. It apparently has its own DAC on the pod, so maybe it's just a noise issue. Though it's more or less the same DAC...

Do you have a link for those particular threads? I just visisted there and can't figure out how to search... I'd really like to read more about the Radio Remote and see how the 5G sound quality with it compares to a 4G Ipod with iMod.

True, but the iAudio sounds a lot better.

Plus Rockbox tends to crash a lot, at least for me on my iPod mini. My iAudio X5 is just slightly bigger than the mini. It sounds great with my Sennheiser PX100s. BBE and Mach3Bass sound awesome. The screen is a bit small, but I definitely prefer this over the iPod.
