So the retail 2100 isn't the one to get? It's $105 shipped.

Please help. I ordered this thinking this was what everyone bought.


edit: Never mind. Just realized I ordered a Palamino. I'll have to cancel and try again.

As we speak (type?), I'm waiting on the FEDEX guy to show up. It was put on the truck for delivery about 4 hours ago. Normally, my apt complex is in the middle of his route...he usually gets here around 1300 or so, but I'm hoping that being today is a holiday that half the buisnesses he delivers to are CLOSED allowing him to get here sooner.

I hope he does; not only so I can get my XP, but so I can go run errands. The second I leave, he'll show up...it's happened before. So, I'm homebound for the time being.

yup that's what happened to me... was waiting for my mobo... literraly 5 minutes after i left, the guy showed up and delivered it.... made me SOOOO mad...

but they were nice enough to drop it off at a neighbors so i went by and picked it up...

Also, one of you with lower speed RAM like PC2100, I'd like to be able to compare with a chip with the higher multis enabled. I can't POST beyond 191mhz, but that is probably more a limitation of my Samsung True PC2700 (DTM, TCB3). If someone gets to 2.5ghz+ using the higher multis, I'm there

I have a K7N2 and crucial pc2100. for some reason my crucial wont oc AT ALL. whenever I oc, it causes no post. I even tried the lowest oc possible (166*(5/6)=138) and even at a measly 5MHz oc, it caused no post. what's wrong? aren't most people getting 166 on their crucial pc2100?

Check to see if in the BIOS you have Halt on: set to all Errors. Overclocking may give you an error like "cpu overspeed" or something like that. Set the Halt On: to none and see if that works. And what do you mean by 166*5/6 = 138. You mean your running your FSB at 166mhz and the ram at 5/6 the speed? If so, that may be the problem right there, seeings as ur cpu might not be able to handle that high of a FSB.

my cpu can handle the 166 just fine...when I run fsb=166 and ram=133, it's rock solid

Heheheh, hopefully by the end of the day, you'll have some company up there in 2.4GHz-land. I'm waiting on FEDEX as we speak. Still waiting....

At Insane3D's suggestion, I'm going to remove the stock HS on the Northbridge, clean off the pink goo and apply some AS3. I have noticed that the HS gets warm (that's a good sign) and the Southbridge gets HOT. I may slap a chipset HS on there somehow...we'll see how it goes.

Corsair sent me a brand new stick of XMS3200 (400MHz DDR) CAS2 to replace the CAS2.5 stick I had to RMA; haven't tested it yet but being it came directly from Corsair, I am assuming it's a "thunder stick!"

Allrighty, it's in. I also removed the Northbridge HS and put some AS3 on there.

The CPU is indeed the exact one Newegg is showing on the the site: AXDA2100DUT3C. The complete stepping is AIUHB 0250XPAW, so it's a week 50.

I am using a single 512mb stick of Corsair XMS3200 C2. I have the memory timings set to "OPTIMAL" (lame, I know...just for now) stock multi, stock voltage, FSB set 166.

It booted right up at 2.17GHz. SANDRA test ran, but 3DMark crashed out back to the desktop. Not a good sign. I upped the CPU core from 1.60 to 1.65. It ran everything fine.

Based on the above happening, I don't think I'll be getting much more than 2.17GHz out of it. I can't comment on the stability at this speed yet, as I've only run some benchmarks and am posting this...gimme some time. I think I'll set the memory timings to more aggressive settings, then we'll monkey w/the multi/FSB from there.

I'll continue to post my results in this reply.

See how much further you can get with voltage increases. Then after that, try dropping it down a 1/2 multipler, which may allow around a 10mhz+ up on the FSB (assuming your max OC at default multiplier is somewhere around 180ish). And if you really want to get the FSB up more, keep on dropping 1/2 a multiplier till your happy.
