300 now

still waiting for newegg to get new stock... I think i'll go ahead and get a 2100+ even though there now may be some 1700+ CPUs that can hit 2.4GHz, I'll just get one of those chips too!

BTW, idle temps are 41C CPU/35C case. Using an AX-7/AS3. Also took of the Northbridge, cleaned off the pink pad and used AS3 there as well.

SANDRA
CPU 6175/3087
MEM 2792/2636

That is really wierd, I am running my 2400+ @ 11.5x192 2.2Ghz,
Sandra CPU Arithmatic......: 8320/3378
Sandra CPU Multimedia.....: 12331/13158
Sandra Memory Bandwidth: 2940/2755

Chizow, could you post your scores too? How can I beat MichaelD's score by over 2000 points on CPU Arithmatic ? This will make me doubt on purchasing a 2100+ tomorrw. Someone please make clear of this for me, thanks.

Different version of Sisoft Sandra possibly?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm using V.8.59. The latest one, AFAIK. Also running W2K SP3.

Well, a little more than 4 hours later and no errors in Prime95. I've been surfing on and off and even ran a single loop of 3DM!!! I think *crosses fingers* that I'm stable. I may not muck w/it at all.

Hell, $105 for a 2.23GHz CPU? Wurd. Luv to AMD.

Ahem...now I just need a better videocard so I can run 4xAA @ 1152x864x32 in Max Payne and MoHAA.

Running a NAV scan of my HD while surfing, while running P95...trying to muck it up...temps are 50/35.

MichaelD, you might try ECC2-109. It gets my CPU's core temp up a couple degrees higher than SETI@Home, even. Probably due to use of the AthlonXP's dual MMX units. If you try it, might as well join the AnandTech team so we get credit whenever you do stability testing.

Heh, well I dunno why I didn't try it sooner, but the 1002.001 BIOS does in fact unlock all multipliers, high and low I'm running at 14 x 174mhz = 2422 now, gonna run 3dmark overnight and if its ok, prime95 while at work. Hopefully this will get me closer to rock solid stable as it'll stress my memory less. If everything goes well, I'm gonna bump the FSB even further or perhaps go to 15 x 166mhz. Unfortunately, there's no 14.5 multiplier to play with, but this BIOS has definitely rekindled some hope in this board and Asus in general. Now if we could just get that damn 1003 BIOS Evan had for his mobo roundup!!!!

Oh yah, and here's my Sandra scores at 13mhz x 187 as requested:

Math: 9024/3597
Multimedia: 13356/14070
Memory: 2839/2940

I don't typically put too much reliance on Sandra's synthetic benchmarks, but I guess for this exercise of comparing between processors its relevant.

Chiz

Edit: Just finished a 3 hour marathon of BF1942...that game looks stunning with this rig and a 9700pro with 4x FSAA, max everything and 8-tap AF It looks cinematic at times....brings a cheesy grin to my face every time

Yep, this looks about right. I got rid of the last reason not to buy a 2100+ today.

'Morning Guys.

I'm not sure why my SANDRA scores are so much lower than yours...maybe b/c my memory isn't as tweaked as it could be? Dunno.

But some good news; I just stopped P95. Almost 12 hours straight w/no errors. 12 hours is good enough for me (and most folks, I'd assume!) I even did a bit of light gaming while it was running. That's good news. 2.23GHz. Now that I've found a sweet spot to "come back to", I am planning on messing with it even further.

I do need a better videocard. I tried enabling 4xAA on Max Payne yesterday and my rig got choppy. Now, at 1152x864x32 w/all details maxed and triple buffering, it looks positively beautiful and runs smoother than glass...but I still want my AA, darnit!

I'm going to shut down all background proggys and run SANDRA again. BRB.

*edit*
CPU: 6140/3068
Multimedia: 12109/14194
Memory: 2829/2662

Still very good scores, my memory scores are right there w/you guys, but the CPU is nowhere near yours. It's the bottom-line CPU speed that "gets the math score", not the multiplier, right? I don't get it. It's gotta be the memory tweaking timings? I'm running everything set to "Expert", CAS2, timings of 4-3-2 (I believe...may be 4-3-4, I'll check...but it shouldn't make THAT much of a diff...)

Oh, and MechBgon, that was a very subtle, polite subliminal message. I'll think about it.

Maybe I'll drop my multi further and up the FSB....oh well. Gotta go to work now and I start in a new department today. No raise, just a lateral move...but it has more potential than my last position. See you guys tonight. Please post some hints/tips for me.

ps
Oh, right now, CPU idle, 42C CPU/34C Case. Gotta luv that. This morning after 12 hours of P95 I was at CPU 51C/Case 35C. Decent temps, I'd say.

Newegg took off their eta of 1/21. Looks like I'll have to get a 1.7 to hold me off.

Unless someone wants to sell me their 2100+

I so wish I could enjoy this overclocking goodness. I have the 2100, new mb and new ddr but for some reason I am cursed to never have my computer operate right the first time when I do an upgrade. The first problem last night was in the bios settings but those were easily fixed after only an hour of cursing. Then when I think I have everything running properly, I can't boot past the ide check. I get a "inaccessible boot device error". I am hoping that a reinstall of Windows XP will fix the problem.

The suspense is killing me, I waited patiently for 5 days to get my toys and now they don't work!! ARRRG.

Looks like the ETA was moved to 1/22 on newegg

Edit: Newegg scratched the 1/22 ETA and soon had these chips in stock Picked two of these up, should have them by thursday.

Hey All sounds like you all got a WInner in these 2100+'s! I have a completely stable pally at 1.533 I do not want to reformat when I put a new processor in to much of a pain. you think I can drop it in and go? I have an Iwill XP333 that supposedly will work up to XP2100 processors (or 2400+ if i do a dreaded bios flash) Think I should just wait till AMD get around 3ghz before I upgrade? I just do not know!
getting a GF4 4200 in the mail soon will it be my bottleneck in games? Damn I hate this new OCing AMD chips give me a woody!

what to do!?!??!

Finally I put to bed going to the darkside though these new CPUs will keep me an AMD man.

The problem is that although you're cursing, the motherboard can't hear you. Try plugging a microphone into the red Mic jack on the I/O panel, and cursing into THAT.

Also, yeah, if you were hoping to migrate to the new board from your old one without reinstalling WinXP, it sounds like it usually doesn't fly. Good luck on the reinstall

Ok folks good news, (if it doesn't fry) I upped the voltage to 1.85 and now I'm stable at 2.32.

Question does this board (ERDA) have PCI lock, No matter what I try I can't up my FSB to anything above 191 and stay in windows. My memory is rated at DDR400 and so I don't think it's the memory, I locked my AGP to 66 and tried many different variations of multi x FSB and still can't load windows at anything above 191. If it loads it locks up less than a minute later. (disclaimer: I do have all my peripherals installed because I'm looking for a stable overclock where everything works)

Well XP is now installing, there apparently is some sort of weird issue between the motherboard and the hard drive concerning master/slave ide identification. I took the jumper off the back and its booting through the ide check with no problem. XP seems to be installing ok which means my first fear of having a bad ide controller is probably wrong. I had to go back to work before xp finished installing, hopefully when I get home in a few hours it will be done, then 2.2 ghz here i come. Hopefully nothing goes wrong when I get everything back into the case.

One other question, since i have PC 3500 ram, should I crank the memory bus up to 200 mhz and run async or should I leave them both at 166?

Yes all NForce2 boards lock the PCI. Try upping the voltage on your ram. or relaxing the timings on it.
