Default voltage? That's pretty good. I had to up my voltage in order to do 13x166. Beat on that bad boy. Up the voltage to 1.650 and try 180.

thanks!

i ordered a 1700+ for fun....

let's see how far i can push that baby....

if i can get it farther than the 2100+, then definitely going to sell the 2100+....

if this 1700+ cant get very far either, i'm gonna sell it as well....

i might try getting a 2100+ from pcnut.com.... but they no longer are guaranteeing week 48/49....

oh well!

Try Motherboard Monitor (MBM). Link to it can be found stickied at the top of this forum. Those readings are retardedly low :Q Is your system super loaded? Even still, it should not be straining any of your rails that much. I'm using a 480W TrueBlue and my rails are all slightly above spec, with no fluctuations at all even when loaded...love it...although its really boring to watch

Chiz

Edit: Are you sure that 2.72 isn't your Vdimm?

Check USDM.. I'll bet that 2.72 is your Vdimm voltage. You should be ok.

no no i checked... using MBM...

3.3V - 2.72V
5V - 4.87V
12V - 11.61V

it is ridiculously low... i don't understand...

what am i powering?

TT smart fan 2
2 hard drives
CDRW drive
DVD drive
floppy drive
motherboard

that's it!

argh... this is getting annoying... why are my voltages so low!!!???!!!???

I think someone reported in Gen. Hardware that the 8RDA+ takes its 3.3V rail readings from the Vdimm with MBM. Try a search over there over the past three days with 8RDA and MBM, or just 8RDA. I'm guessing you have the latest MBM as well, but if not, they recently released the new version supporting Nforce2 boards. Also, check your readings in BIOS. Though they won't be loaded readings per se, it will give you an idea if your 3.3V is off-whack to start with, which would indicate RMA time for the PSU. Last thing I would try is disconnecting everything other than your video card, RAM, boot drive and CPU fan to see if that unloads the rail, but this shouldn't be the case as what you have connected shouldn't come even close to straining a 430W True.

wow, i read your mind...

i unplug everything except the hard drive, my TT fan, and 1 cdrw drive...

my 3.3V line DROPPED!!!! to 2.61V

seriously... what's wrong? do you think something might be wrong with the board?

i've tried 3 PSU's!!! none of them read higher than 2.72V on the 3.3V line...

cuz if that is limited my O/C... then i'm going to be so mad!!!! :|

btw.. it's a BRAND NEW 430w PSU...

Man, something is definitely weird. Search for that link I described about the 8RDA's readings. Its a new board right? It might very well be the board if 3 diff. PSUs are giving readings that poor. I'm almost surprised you can even boot with a reading that low :Q

Shimmishim,
I read the same thing about the voltage.... I believe its reporting your Vdimm voltage as someone else mentioned. I have an Antec SmartPower 400 watt PSU, with an 8RDA+ MB, and the latest version of MB Monitor, and its reporting the 3.3v line as 2.62 volts.... I don't think thats your problem, I think you just may have a CPU that just doesn't want to run.... Good luck with your 1700+...

the 8RDA+ IS BROKE LIKE A JOKE or MBM is broke...

i went over to amdmb.com and posted in their official 8rda+ thread... they have an epox rep in there that told me to adjust the vdimm volt from 2.6 to 2.5 and then read the 3.3V rail from MBM....

yup... MBM is reading the 3.3V as the vdimm voltage... weird huh?

glad i FINALLY figured it out...

Shimmishim, your not powering any powerful fans off the fan plugs on the motherboard are you?.Sometimes that drains a lot of juice.Sometimes its better to run them to the power supply and just leave the CPU fan plugged in the CPU fan plug on the mobo and nothing else.

refer above...

the 3.3V rail was reading the vdimm voltage... the actually 3.3V rail is actually higher... i just don't know a way of reading it though because no program that i've seen so far reads the 3.3V rail correctly..

"Btw Pelican, nice results with the Samsung! What modules are you running though? CTL or DTL/DTM? If you're running CTL, it doesn't surprise me, but I'm running DTM and it seems to only be "decent" stuff. I also read about the burn-in, but considering I couldn't do better than 2.5-3-3-8 at 187mhz and couldn't even POST at 3-4-4-8 at 195mhz makes me think all the burn-in in the world wouldn't help me"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chiz - I just got lucky I guess. I'm using the DTM's. I was bummed when NewEgg sent them instead of the CTL's, but it worked out great after all.

Ditto, my brother! I have an Antec Trupower 430, latest MBM (5.2.1.0 Beta), Epox 8RDA+, and I read exactly 2.62 volts on the 3.3v line no matter what I do. It's a MBM quirk, as it does the same thing on my Shuttle AK35GTR (KT266A) motherboard.

Now to other news. I did some case fan rearranging, and the results are really cool. Literally.

I no longer have any front intake fans in my Antec 1040-clone case. I have two exhaust fans, plus the dual-fan Trupower PSU.

I am running at 12x185=2230MHz @ 1.750v I'm using the newest Prime95 (v22.12.1) and have been running the torture test and various SANDRA benchmarks...and 3DMARK and surfing, etc. etc.

My current CPU temp is 53C...2C highter than I've been able to get it without crashing P95!!!

You're damn straight I'm going to run P95 all night! If it makes it to 0600 tomorrow, I'd say I've got a stable OC on my hands! We shall see though; P95 is notorious for running for a few hours then going *KABOOM* :|

Before starting all the "beating on the CPU" it was idling at 43C, which is pretty darn decent for 1.750v. Right now, my case temp is 35C, which is a bit on the warm side...idle case temps are around 32C. The rear of my case is about 3 inches away from a wall...I don't know how much this has to do with anything...the front of the case, where all the intake is, is completely exposed to the room, with about 3 feet+ of airspace in front of it.

I am a geek, but not geek enough to put the case in the middle of the room to determine if the 3 inches of airspace at the rear of the case is a limiting issue or something like that.
Whatever!!!!

If P95 makes it 'till morning, I'll be a happy camper.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit. P95 ran for exactly one hour and fortyfive minutes...before crashing. :|

OK. So far, I've gone from 1.675v to 1.750 volts...almost a full tenth of a volt...for marginal performance increases...is it worth it? I dunno. :|

Damn. I was SO SURE I had it this time. I wonder what's next? 1.775v, I guess....*rebooting*

latest MBM (5.2.1.0 Beta
You might want to download the newer version of MB Monitor... 5.2.2.0, its the version that supports the Nforce 2 chipset if I am not mistaken....

Good luck with your overclock! I hope all goes well!

Hey guys, Will Tbred 2100+ be able to change the multiplier to 10x if I use nforce2 motherboard or will it be only 13x or up? I would like to run 10x200 on 2100 to make 2 GHz on 8RDA.

Speaking of 8RDA, does both 8RDA and 8RDA+ both have unlocked features for all Tbred processors or only work on 8RDA+

I only have a click away to place an order for 2100+ and 8RDA or 8RDA+ ?

Thanks guys!

Hello. I've got P95 running, so i can't peek into the BIOS to see if the mult goes all the way down to 10x, but I am 99% sure that it does. Both the 8RDA and the 8RDA+ share the same features AFA multiplier manipulation goes. I would get the 8RDA+ if I was you...so much more board for not that much more money.

OK, on to business!

After an unsuccessful attempt (P95 crash) of 12x185@1.750v, I decided to skip 1.775v and go straight to 1.800v, and that seems to have done it.

Currently sitting at 12x185=2230MHz@1.800v. Current temps are 53C/33C.<--That's a 500MHz overclock, baby!!

SEEMS to have;<---P95 TT has only been running for 5 hours....not enough time to call it "STABLE" in my book. I'm going to let it run all day until I get home about 11 hours from now. If it hasn't crashed after a 16-hour run, I will put the "STABLE OC!" stamp of approval on it.

Side note: I currently have a very quiet Vantec Stealth 80mm fan on my HS. (27CFM @ 21db) I have other fans I could put on there...I have an Antec dual-BB (34CFM @ 28db) and I may try that...probably not though...I like my quiet fans!

I have noticed that playing say, UT2K3 doesn't heat up the CPU anywhere close to what Prime does...if I make it thru this 16-hour run, I'll be happy for a few days. I wanted to break that 2.2GHz barrier.

Back to 2197 mhz now and let prime run here. I can live with tempuratures maxing out 42/43 c
