oh you have a 0250? and what, you can't break 2.2 ghz right? or is it cuz of your RAM?

someone posted that their 0302 did really well though

Hey! I got it moving a little with the water cooling talk yesteday

Anyways, I'll be doing all the mods I put off from last week b/c of the Super Bowl starting tomorrow, so I should have some new tweaks and results. Here's what I'm doing:

SLK-800 w/ a Rheobus controlled Dumb Fan 2 (will throttle it down and post new stable speed)
Crystal Orb on the NB, may throttle this fan too if it is too loud.
Stock Heatsink on the SB
Rheobus to control all case fans and find a sound vs. temp "sweet spot".
New fans to replace the Adda's in my Lian-Li; Sunon 39 CFM fans with Rheobus control.

I almost pulled the trigger on that Kingston DDR434 HyperX for ~$170 for each 512MB stick, but reports are the Chinese New Year will bring price cuts so I'm gonna wait

it seems my chip likes 1.74 volts to 2197mhz

takes 1.85 volts for 2275mhz ........prime ran over 16 hrs without alot of stuff going on as usuall then blue screened and rebooted on me.
since i dont have multiplier control i cant tell what is going on or not going on.

i cant find a medium inbetween these two speeds of a lesser voltage it will like. this part doesnt make sense to me. 1.77 volts to 1.82 volts this chip wont work stable between 170 fsb to 174 fsb which is very strange.

for those out there getting these processors to 2400mhz and beyond i congratulate you on a feat i havent been able to duplicate with this chip. i seen some reports of super low tempuratures with air cooling as well. thats something else i dont understand as to how someone with air cooling at voltages of 1.85 to 2 volts plus can get full load temps at 35c to low 40c.

Chizow,

That's some mod list you've got there...a lot of work to be sure. It's a good thing you got the Rheobus b/c those Sunons are not exactly quiet. I have four of them...used to be my case fans. They do move a good deal of air though. They hum pretty loudly at full tilt.

I've been really thinking about swapping out my HS fan for an Antec 34CFM fan. The Antecs also used to be case fans...the Antec is 34CFM vs 27CFM for the Vantec...a noticeable difference in air-moving ability...I'm assuming it'll knock my CPU temps down a little.

I want to see if P95 is still running when I get home...this morning, CPU temp was 53C after five hours of running. Shouldn't be much more than that (assuming it's still running) when I get home. If it's still good, I will probably just leave the Vantec fan on there. We'll see what happens.

Jen,
It's a shame you can't get that chip a little higher...why can't you manipulate the multi? What mobo are you using again (too far up for me to look!)

Yah, I've been putting everything off, b/c my rheo didn't come in, now its the wrong color (from Xoxide) I think I'm just gonna use it anyways.

She's using a KT333 based board, so she's only got the 13 and down multis. Also it could be her RAM or a divider issue. Possibly components not like the resulting bus freqs. at a certain FSB. As for temps and such, I'm running pretty darn hot considering I'm using a really loud fan atm. Prime is running 49C on me, and I'm expecting to have to lower my OC once I get my Rheo installed and my Dumb Fan down to acceptable noise levels.

you think 49C is too hot?

i'm running 1.775V through mine and when i run prime it maxes at 49 as well... i thinkit's okay for me...

dunno though...

note: my 1700+ has come in! except i missed fedex delivery and have to go by Fedex today after research lab to go pick it up

yay!!! i'll post results tonight...

and while i'm at it, i'm gonna pick up another 2100+ : i'll post results with that one as soon as i get it... (hopefully middle of next week)

Shimmishim, your temps are right where they should be. You are running 1.775 vs. my 1.800 and you are 4C cooler than me, which is significant. When I was at 1.750v, my P95 temps were still 51C.

I do believe this is due to the fact that my two exhaust fans are speed-controlled by the ANtec PS. If I were to plug them straight into the PS/motherboard, they'd be running full-tilt and my temps would probably be about where yours are.

But if it's stable, I'm willing to sacrifice a few degrees C for QUIET.

my Abit KX7 333R allows me no multiplier control at all. only way i can get the lower multipliers is by doing the L3 fifth bridge loop to unlock the lower multipliers. i didnt know at that time that this was going to be a problem with this motherboard. i had expected 13 and up multipliers being available to me but that isnt the case for this motherboard. other motherboards such as the KT7 and such have a hacked bios which does allow useage of higher multipliers. why havent someone done the same for this motherboard i dont know. i cant find any place with such a bios flash to allow me this kind of control .

likes chizow says it could be one of my components or motherboard or processor etc that is causeing problems. as all that i have is fsb to go with and that wasnt something i wanted to do.

being that as it is i need a nforce 2 board that will allow me better control and thus being able to solve this problem with this processor. funds are the problem and my fs/ft ad hasnt sold much in the last 6 months

my understanding is corsair uses winbond chips and from what i see twinmos winbond does well for 200 fsb and sometimes higher

no guarranttees in this

its 76 dollars for a stick of 256 mb

Shimmi and Jen,

I'll just throw this out there; why not buy a stick of Corsair XMS3200 CAS2. It's GUARANTEED to do 200MHz at CAS2/2-3-3! My stick does. Why take chances with somethign that is NOT guaranteed to hit a certain speed?

Corsair is one of the best companies I've dealt w/in a long time. My first stick I bought from Googlegear. I couldn't hit higher than 170MHz. Needless to say I was pissed. I RMAd it directly to Corsair and got a new stick back in a week!

The new stick has done 205MHz at CAS2!!!

Now on to business!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I proudly announce that I am the father of a healthy, bouncing baby 2230MHz CPU! Got home from work, P95 still running, CPU temp was 56C (!:Q!) I stopped the test. Prime95 TT ran for 16 hours, 33 minutes, 0 errors!!!!!!! I'd call that a stable OC!! Woo-hoo!!!!! I'm just gonna leave it like this for awhile. *hands out cigars*

what settings are you running at michael?

second the corsair xms3200 memory. would have bought 2x256 but i hate getting locked into limited memory, would rather buy 1 512.

Twinmos is supposed to work very well also, alot of people who first bought the 8rda+ were using it with very good results.

I assume you mean everything? Um...OK. Off the top of my head:

Multiplier: 12
FSB: 185
CPU v: 1.800
Memory v: 2.67 (the 8RDA defaults at this, not the usual 2.5v)
Everything set Expert:
AGP: 66MHz
In order: CAS2, 3-3-2

If you need to know a specific BIOS setting, tell me and I'll be nice enough to reboot and look for you.

Beautiful!
Just got mine from newegg 0303 ?
Right now 166fsb @1.65v 36C using volcano 9 and the freezing weather of seattle

I can probably go a lot higher but not going to touch it for a while.

Thanks chizow.

looks nice, were running pretty much identical it appears.

i hit the same wall though, once i go past 2200mhz my cpu voltages really start to climb to keep it stable.

you might want to try 11x200,its extremly solid for me at 1.7vcore.

i just need to change my memory timings so reason i asked for your info. still running at 2-3-3-6.

call me crazy

13 x 177 fsb [2301 mhz ] 1.87 volts. tempurature with prime running is 46/47

now this is a cooler day so i dont know if this will hold or not. and my voltage selection goes way higher than normal cause this board is voltage modified. i looked at my menu and about fainted

i dont recommend anyone running this voltage and i am only doing this to satisfy my curiosity

Been there, done that. I did not see an appreciable difference in GAMES (i.e. UT2K3 benchmark) at 200FSB vs. 185 FSB, to warrant "beating on a $180 stick of memory".

Now, the SANDRA memory bmark was off the scale! But I game, not just run benchmarks.

I may not even leave it at 2230...my temps don't drop past 47C...all for another 70MHz? Not really sure it's worth it.

I can go back to 12x180 @ 1.675 and be rock stable...with idle temps of 42.43C I have to think about it...

All these other forums are keeping a post for just speed stats... let's do the same! this post keeps going off topic and such so let's make an official one...

I'll update it and make a database as well in excel or something.

Let's track our speeds!

i'm at 2100 @ 1.675 volts right now...

prime95-ing it as i type... please let it pass!!!

i will up the voltage and FSB later on

i only need 25 more mhz to hit the speed of my 2100+!!!

man, that's a 633 mhz overclock!!!
