seen a few go to 2200mhz at 1.85 volts

seen very few go higher than that without very good cooling and alot of luck.......and a bit of pushing on voltage

you do what you feel is best for you

seeing 2100mhz at 1.7 volts is a achievement itself

show me 2200mhz plus at low voltage and you will be getting me to buy these for testing

Bah. I just pissed my entire night away. Was supposed to install my reservoir, 8RDA+, and other stuff to see how high I could really get my XP 2100+ on watercooling, but wound up talking to this girl from another town. Ehh, oh well, I guess I really didn piss my night away . You guys know damn well you wouldn't have hooked the computer up either, so take it easy!

Untill tomorrow night

yeap, seeing the brick wall @ 2200mhz

I don't want to bump higher than 1.75ghz to try to get pass 2200mhz.
2163mhz @1.65V is plenty fine for me.

When it comes to the fairer sex and "tryin' to get the hookup", there's no such thing as wasted time! Your night was far more exciting than mine! You go!!

Well, I have come to a couple of realizations.

#1. 2100-something is the safe limit for this chip that I have (no shame in that)
#2. It's just not worth another 60MHz (no performance diff at the 2GHz+ level!!) to have to run at 1.800v vs. 1.675v AND have temps almost to 60C vs. upper 40's for that same lousy 60MHz.

I went back.... to 12x180 (2160MHz)@1.675v. Running P95TT right now, CPU is at 48C...not 58! Much better. Benchmarks show a small difference...besides bragging rights, I've lost nothing.

yeah... it ran prime for an hour and 30 minutes at 2100 @ 1.7V

decided to up it...

running it at 2160 @ 1.75V right now... if it passes prime for 30 minutes, then i'm trying 2200 @ 1.8V and that's it!

my temps are only 45C full load right now

Absolutely NOT trying to pee on your parade, but 30 minutes of Prime is nothing. Most folks will agree that around 8 hours is the minimum to say "my OC is stable." 30 mintes just gets is ready to get REALLY heated up.

8 hours is good, 12 hours is superb. Anything beyond 16 hours is guaranteed gold. When OCing, your memory/Northbridge as well as the CPU all get stressed. It is important to know that all the parts are good to go.

Good luck, Shimmishim!

i know 30 minutes isnt enough...

but usually when you hit a wall, prime95 will crash by the 5th test.. (well it usually does for me)...

so i figured that if it can go for 30 minutes, then it hasn't hit a wall yet...

i will up it to 2200 ghz and 1.8V... if prime95 doesn't crash on first test, then i will let it run over night

You're 90% correct. P95 DOES crash within a few minutes when you've REALLY hit a wall. But it takes many hours to determine if it's REALLY STABLE.

IOW, would you rather find out from a nice, safe proggy that displays the "bad yellow box" that your OC is bad or from a game that you've been playing for days, and now your rig has crashed and you can't save or you've been typing this 34 page thesis in Word and your rig crashed? See what I mean?

Anyway, I'm being too anal....I'm tired. Goodnight! and good luck.

understandable i dont like running my voltage that high either. can get about 2360 out of it at most, but thats 1.85 volts and 13x182 or so.

im not having a problem running at 11x200@1.7 and figure the memory is rated for it. not certain if there are any negative effects, but its stable and temps are around 40C under load at most.

Update ROMSIP & BPL (V2.84). Changed AGP Aperture Size default from 32MB to 64MB. Solved hang-up at post C1(h), when memory over clock. Added IDE DMA transfer function support.

Also, if you missed it in the GH forum, Nvidia released new Nforce drivers..... link to the thread is here.

argh... i hate flashing bios... makes me nervous since i've had a unknown flashtype error with my KK266

oh well...

prime95 failed on me at 2200 mhz @ 1.8V

upped voltage to 1.825V ... prime is on test 656... 657... ahh too fast... it's going well though... no crashes

and temp is at 47C 100% load

not too shabby for a 1700+

Buck_Naked,the link is dead. Thanks for adding the info on the bios release.I was feeling to lazy to copy and paste it..LOL.Shimmishim,I got the same 2100+ as you have 03.01 brown. It does 166x13 so far.I'll see what it has and report later.

I am at 2405GHZ 1.85V memory at auto 333DDR.I'll check for stability tomorrow since its late 4am..LOL.Can anyone tell me how those memory ratios work with the percentages?.I want to see what my 2 sticks of OCZ PC3500 EL Dual Channel ram can do.I would atleast like to find out if it can run spec.

I had forgotten that my chip likes 1.700v vs. 1.675 to be stable at 12x180. Got a P95 crash after an hour last night. :| So this morning, I cranked it up a tad to 1.700v and P95TT is running as we speak.

When I get home tonight, it'll have been running for almost 12 hours; no crash=stabile. We'll see.

My cpu fan speed doesn't show in the bios, reads 0.Anyone have this problem?.I am plugged in the cpu fan plug so I have no idea whats up.Using an SLK800 and Panaflo "High" 80mm 39cfm fan.It works real nice with the SLK and keeps thing quiter. Shimmishim,I thought your 2100+ that did 2.1 was brown.Good to see that some brown are ok cause in the case if the 1600+ they weren't that good.

Do the Panaflos support fan monitoring? Did it work on a previous board? Otherwise I don't know what the prob might be. You can check if it supports fan monitoring by looking at the power connector; 3 wires (ground, line, and a third for monitoring) supports monitoring, 2 wires is just power and ground.

Heheh nice results bro, hopefully I'll be able to run cool and quiet like your set-up w/out sacrificing too much speed.

I'm DEFINITELY doing my case mods this weekend...been running too loud for too long. I'm blamin Xoxide on this one though, shipped me a black rheo and my LL is silver :| I've decided to go black bezels on my optical drives as a result, so I'm just gonna keep the black rheo. Really pissed at Xoxide though, they wouldn't cross-ship me a silver one even though I offered to let them charge me for it while the other was in-transit.

I also get to slap on active NB cooling and I'm gonna put the stock NB cooler on the MCP-T, so hopefully my results mirror yours My CrystalOrb and AS Epoxy arrived earlier this week. I've got some extra ramsinks laying around, so maybe I'll toss em onto the R9700pro, it'll raise the resale value on Egay when I sell it in a month

The fan monitoring worked in my 8K3A+ Epox.I'll check to see if it does have the 3 wires.
Update:It does have the fan monitoring wire (3 wires).I'll see if I have another fan to try.

Hey Chiz,

As you know, the Southbridge gets HOT, especially at higher bus speeds; however I must say that I've experienced no ill effects from this. *shrug* maybe it's supposed to get that hot? I dunno...it's HOT though. :Q Some cooling on it won't hurt though.

I"m curious to see what FSB you can get with active cooling on the N.B.; I'll bet it helps a lot.

Maybe it's just my chip, but I need a lot of fan power to get it stable at 2.2GHz and above, b/c it takes 1.8v and above to do that. It's just amazing how much extra heat just .10 volts will generate. I mean, running P95, there's an 8C difference b/t running it at 1.700 and 1.800 volts! Stable, but too hot for my liking and in my bedroom, I've already got a server running in there...it's gets a bit toasty in that room.

If I get bored this weekend, I'm gonna swap out the Vantec fan for an Antec fan (27 vs. 34cfm) and see how much of a difference that makes. The fan is screwed into the top of the AX-7 heatsink and when you put in/take out screws, you get tiny, tiny metal shavings, which as you know will fry a motherboard like that. *snap fingers* That would be a bad thing.

So, I'd need to break out the vacuum, etc...a real PITA, youknow? I'll prolly do it anyway tho.

Good luck w/your modding and we want PICS when you're done. :
