I was just curious. I believe the tbreds come with the multipliers unlocked. What about the 2100 tbred? Does this cpu come unlocked as well? If it does come with the multipliers unlocked, does anyone know the highest multiplier is available? I only have pc2100 ram right now so overclocking (by fsb) will be started as soon as i pick up either a pc2700 stick or a pc3200 stick.

No XPs are unlocked, but Nforce2 boards allow you to change the multiplier as if they were on thoroughbred chips (or so I've heard, unable to confirm personally). PC2100 is usually overclockable itself to a 166 or higher FSB, so try that first.

The tbreds are unlocked, or the one i have is unlocked. I have an 1800+ and it was unlocked right out of the box. I was able to up the multiplier to 12.5 on my msi kt3 ultra (kt333) and hit 2000+ with no problem. I have to believe the 2100 tbred is unlocked, and i just want to know the highest multiplier available.

How can I tell if I have a tbred? It is an Athlon XP2400, unfortunatelly there isn't any thing written on the die of the cpu.

The Nforce2 roundup done by anandtech in december tells all. You have to have a thoroughbread B chip not A. How to tell what you have, I would call AMD to ask if they could tell you what chip it is. They don't care if you overclock bc its your money. They just wont replace it when you fry it The Nforce2 boards can modify the multiplier on the B chips only.

If there is nothing written on the die, then it is Tbred. The chip is also smaller than Palomino.
