They just lowered the price to $90 while the palominos are $94, what's the logic behind that?

Stock that moves quickly gets discounted to draw sales from other sites. Stock that doesnt sell well, stays at the list price. Marketing is weird that way. Try finding some older parts, and you'll see that they charge more than what the new stuff costs.

Ordered mine.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used Athlon XP 2100+ Palomino?

Yea, I've noticed that too but sooner or later the old stuff ends up at places like CSO and Compgeeks where it sells for a faction of it's original value.

Marketing people are such geniuses.

Since the T-breds are using the .13 micron process, they should be cheaper for AMD to produce (more chips per wafer). Maybe the savings gets passed on down the line (I rather doubt it though).

Would it be worth it to get the cpu here where
you have a choice of stepping and date code or just take a chance at Newegg?

I bought my T'bred XP 2100 from www.pcsupplysource.com
It clearly states T'bred on the website and in the reciept.
It was $84 shipped from the East Coast.
They have a decent, but not NewEgg riduculous, reseller rating.

I have no idea what stepping it is, only that it is a T'bred for sure.

Forget www.pcsupplysource.com
I just got a T'bred A from them.
Needless to say RMA and a restocking fee.
At least shipping to me was free.

Where can I get a garanteed T'Bred B and a decent stepping?
Is it Newegg?

They have both listed with seperate selects.
So you can choose a B as it says so right in the description.

They have 3 2100's listed. One that says right on it T'Bred B
one that says nothing and the retail.

If I choose the B and get an A they are getting a butt whoopin.

OPPS sorry thought you meant the 2100 and not the 1700.

Yah--just try finding a good price for a PCI video card!
