My old trusted 20? died, may he rest in peace

I been looking at IIYAMA VISION MASTER PRO514
I?m using the monitor as a TV as well and I don?t have much room for external speakers
So it seems like a good replacement

Also LG N2200P looks nice too

But I really have no clue, as I didn?t buy any big monitors for nearly 7 years

Any tips what to look for or what to avoid are appreciated

Thx

Is NEC 2070SB basically the same?

Yeah the 2141 and the 2070 are the same. I've got the FE2111SB and like it and it's a step down from those so I imagine they're very good monitors.

Yup, with 22" CRTs, NEC/Mitsubishi Diamondtron NFs are your only choice. If you go down to 21" the Sony FDTrinitron tubes are also some of the best. Viewable display size will still be the same, ~20"

Required laugh at topic title: I've never seen a 22 foot (') CRT. Thus I cannot recommend any. I have seen 22 inch (") CRTs though.

There is no difference between a 21" and a 22" CRT. They are simply marketing hype. Both have the same visible screen size. Heck, I have a monitor advertized as 22" and even the manual for the monitor uses 21" half the time.

I only like Hitachi tubes when it comes to monitors that large. Unfortunatly Hitachi stopped making them. Thus you have to settle for something sub-par. I wouldn't recommend any of those.

AFAIK, there are differences between 21" and 22" CRTs. The difference is in the size of the CRT, obviously. However, both only display aroudn 20" out of that 21"/22". The argument that 22" CRTs are better is that they use less of the area out of that 22", and thus avoid distortion problems near the edge of the screen. I don't know if that's true though. My 21" FDTrinitron doesn't seem to have any geometry problems anyway.

As for Hitachi, yup they're great for Shadow Mask monitors, but they're not flat. Some people swear by shadow masks, others swear by AG. I personally prefer a flat screen, and DiamondtronNFs and FDTrinitrons are the only options here. They look really great too.

I've got the 2141sb. One caveat - it's humongous. Takes up a ton of room on your desk and is heavy as hell. For someone who lans moving this thing around is awful. I can barely fit through my sentra's door too so you might need a larger car to move it.

I've been using NEC 22" Multisync FE1250+ Black for two years now.
Can't say I'm happy (for the performance) - but it's been okay (especially since it only cost me 450$)

Too bad Samsung doesn't have a good (enough) 21" CRT.

EDIT:
Yes, the NEC Monitor driver also works for my monitor.
It's kinda cool to set everything from Windows!
Too bad they don't have a save/load feature

Yup - exactly what i was going to say. That is defo what i will be getting to replace my crappy 19"'er.

It's such a cool monitor - that software it comes with that sets up your screens dimensions is totally cool.

The NEC/Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2070 is far from sub-par. It is an excellent CRT.

The LaCie Electron 22", while expensive, is an amazing display -- especially if you need colour accuracy. Better than any of the Sonys I've ever used, IMO.
