Wow...how did you get a raincheck at Fry's? My local store would not do rainchecks. Glad you were able to score on a good deal.
I ran into the same issue with my local Fry's in Chicago, the problem being it's an hour drive for me. Called them up, talked to the person in the components department, was promised I could get a raincheck as long as I picked up part of the bundle (they were out of the motherboards, I'd get the CPU & a raincheck). Made the drive out there only to be told by a supervisor that they don't do rainchecks. I told the supervisor the name of the person with whom I spoke, which of course didn't make a bit of difference. After reminding the supervisor that I was working on good faith on their employee's advice, having driven close to an hour & burned plenty of gas, I asked him to reconsider & let me pay for the bundle, picking up the motherboard later. No go. I mentioned perhaps they could stress as a training issue to be thorough & accurate with what customers are told over the phone. Deaf ears, I'm sure.
Like many others I'm sure, I have a love/hate relationship with Fry's. I love the occasional deals and/or bundles they offer, but I'd rather have a root canal than deal with them in any capacity of customer service. Too many times I've had one person promise me something to have another deny it, even if I've recorded the name/date/time & details. At least I know what I'm getting into at this point ...
