Hi guys,

I'm building a new computer and off course I need to replace my old 17" syncmaster with a new (widescreen)23" monitor.
It will be used for office, watching DVD's, some photoshoping and shooting games.
I was told to buy a Dell U2311H because some people I know own them and they are very pleased with the screen.
But: They have it connected in their office and they only do office things and some videoconferencing. They never heard about pcgaming... So is this any good for pc games also?

I checked the LCD Thread but I don't really seem to find something available in my region. (Belgium)

So what I want is: max 23"screen (maximum width 57cm), No Samsung like shiny plastic surrounding or bezel. If possible extra USB ports.
This screen gets connected to an msi n560GTX TI tfII. If there is a "best" connection, I prefer that one.
Maximum Price: €210 - 295USD
All tips are very welcome.

If possible, could I change the title of this thread?

Because I found an 24"monitor that get some good comments.
I've been focusing at 23" because of it's maximum width but the 24" are not that much bigger.

Anyway, what doe you think about the Iiyama Pro Lite E2473HDS-B1?
I don't really care about the LED and the lack of extra usb ports; but the price, format, refreshrate and colours... they look good.

I understand you want to get 24" possibly.. but I will second the Dell UltraSharp 23"

I spent a few days checking over the reviews and for home office/video use whatever it might be that monitor is definitely the best bang for your buck. And its on sale @ dell right now 70 off the MSRP.

Anyway, apparently the 8ms delay is a bit high and gamers complain. There is mixed reviews about 10% of people online say the 8ms is too high and noticeable the rest say it is totally fine and that 10% are crazy..

I've never noticed any delay.

Rock on

I must say that I don't even know what "delay" is. My Samsung Syncmaster 713N was good for about 4 years. I used it for everything that you can do with a PC. Never noticed anything that looks bad, except for some backlight bleeding in real black screens.

But everybody is talking about refresh rate, 120Hz, ghosting, input lag....
And when you start to search you find what you're looking for. But I only saw the "bad" comments .

Today I went to a store were they have this monitor (and lot of other huge screens) in a good setup and they gave me the go for playing some games.
And I was like WTF, this screen looks really good. So I think, for the cost, it's a must have for me.
IPS is incredible, you even can lay back in your seat for playing a game without reposition the screen.
And everything bigger than my 17" 4/3 monitor will be huge

...So I ask them if they have one in stock, but I will have to wait for a week before mister postmen comes by and give me a nice new monitor.

The thread was not so big but asking no questions will result in 0 answers and tips.

I have an Acer A231H, a 23 inch screen that was shipped from Germany to Cyprus. I got it at 195 euro, 30 of which was shipping. I do not know if it's good for games but i read somewhere that CRT's are faster than flat screens. Your price range is good enough for a 23 inch, but if you go for professional monitors prices can be 100 euro more. You may consider getting a 16X10 instead of 16X9, or get the 24 inch one. And you will see a lot of difference. My previous was a 17inch 4X3 and a 15inch.
