You'd have to pay me more than $25 to take that off your hands... wait, you want ME to pay $25 for that?

I mean, if you just need something to test a system you are building, I guess... but all AMD's CPUs moving forward are APUs with more powerful built-in GPUs than this. I also feel like nobody should reward Nvidia for the way they've completely screwed up the bottom end market in so many ways. It would be nice if Intel joins AMD in supporting basic APU functionality in all processors moving forward, just to bury the 710/730/1030 market once and for wall. Nvidia keeps pushing Fermi (This "710" is really a GT 410M) from 12 years ago and customers keep blindly buying them. Keep in mind, a GT 730 performs something like 5~8 times better than this card, and similar performance uplift for the Zen 4's iGPU vs this card... Let me repeat that: The hobbled iGPU on the new Zen 4 CPUs is over 5 times faster than this card (while supporting modern GPU features).

That's not to say it isn't without some utility... I used to have a TNT2 AGP card handy, before I gave it to my son, who is on a retro game kick - I used that when AGP slots were still hanging out in some of my systems. I even had an old PCI graphics card, for the same reason. PCIe has been around long enough, though, that I have 7 or 8 cards, ranging from a GT 750 on up to a GTX 970. I guess if you have no spare cards to test a new system build, having a GT 710 in your toolbox might be handy. I just could not bring myself to ever install on of these in a computer I was building for somebody and leave it in there... that seems like a crime against humanity.

So, TL;DR version, please don't put this in any computer as a daily driver in any capacity, but if you need a card to test with, it's probably OK if you have no other cards. It's actually a GT 410M GPU on a discreet card that is less powerful than most iGPUs.

In general, I agree with you. I think some merchants are still offering the formerly ubiquitous GeForce GT 210 videos cards. NVidia should not be rewarded for this.

On the other hand, I actually crippled my mother's computer on purpose with a GeForce GT 710 (the best version of it). Her two young grandsons (my nephews) were in the habit of installing software (games, of course) on her computer so they could play games instead of socializing with the family, and as a result, I had to deal with a lot of viruses and malware. Password protection was impractical since my mother has memory issues and keeps a Post-It note with her password attached to her PC. I found a way to sabotage Minecraft, and the frame rates sucked in the other games they wanted to play, so they mostly lost interest in playing on her computer. When one of them was old enough to build his own computer (I showed him how, although he was more likely to take PCs apart than to assemble them), he let me know that her video card sucks. Now that he is a young adult, he has become quite passionate about his hardware preferences. For example, he despises VGA ports. My other nephew is now a computer science major at a prestigious university and has a laptop of his own that blows away any business/budget PC. He was able to get my mother's new printer to work when I was totally confounded. Higher Education for the win.

Now that the threat is gone, I'm about to install a better video card in her PC (for what it's worth, a Radeon RX 460). I'd feel bad about charging $25 for her old card on eBay ($10 wouldn't be worth my time), so I'll probably hold onto it whenever I need a video just to enable a PC to POST.

I just installed an R7 350 4GB GDDR3 LP into an i5-6500 SFF HP box. Unigine Heaven 4.0, gets 6-7 FPS on the "Extreme" preset.

Wonder what Vega 8 gets at 1080P?

That Extreme preset really is extreme, with almost no discernible improvement in image quality. I'm surprised that it got 6 fps on that card.

Vega 8 should be slightly faster, if the RAM bandwidth is sufficient.

Not a bad score. How much was yours?
