Well after several posts asking for advice for a good 24'' monitor people recommended me several panels such as the Samsung T240 or the HP LP2475W ips panel.

I've gotten so confused now with the pros and cons that I decided to step back a bit and make the same question in a different way.
A few months ago people recommended the Benq G2400WD. It was seen as probably the best gaming monitor that also provided good image quality for everything else. I was pretty decided that this was the monitor to get.

Now paying more is not a problem. The price of tHe HP LP2475W is about the price I'm willing to pay for a monitor. What I need to know is, compared to the Benq G2400WD what is today the monitor that has the same reputation for both gaming and good image quality as the Benq G2400WD did last year?

That's the problem, there isn't any. That's why i'm waiting for exciting futur products. If you want to buy now, you'll most likely buy an old product like the BENQ G2400WD.

EDIT : By the way I'm a hardcore gamer and there's no way I would buy the HP2475 or the Samsung T240HD. I'm quite competitive and I don't like the specs of those monitors for a first person shooter. However, if you play strategy games like Empire Total War, Sins of a solar empire, company of heroes ... Those are good choices.

I know this isn't a 24" 1920x1200 but what do you guys think of this as far as input lag goes?

Here's the review

Samsung 2233rz

Apparently it's very fast for games, however no matter how hard you'll try to set the colors, they will never look good. Also the price of this 22 inches 16:9 monitor is a rip-off.
If you're looking for a 16:9 maybe look at the BENQ models.

Thankyou for telling me about the color issue. Does that happen only when the resolution is changed from native? (or does this issue persist at all resolutions) I have heard all kinds of wacky things regarding this monitor when the resolution is changed.

P.S. (Just for clarification)I thought 1680x1050 was 16:10?

I would love to get one of those 24" CRTs. Just wondering what is the highest resolution it can be set at?

I'll have to pick the Benq G2400WD then. I don't really have a choice. I'm buying a new rig and I no longer can use a CRT. Both because I don't have one available where I am and because I really don't want a CRT.
As far as the Benq E2400HD options they are good. They provide pretty much the same quality as the Benq G2400WD but they are 1080p. I prefer 1920x1200 capable monitors. So not an option. Besides since the G2400WD has 1:1 pixel mapping I won't have bad image in 1080p movies. The other option I was considering was the Asus option the last poster mentioned. But from what I gather colors are that good. At least the G2400WD has a reputation has having a decent enough image quality.
The LCD thread here is prove that the Benq G2400WD remains a solid option even against an IPS monitor that passes all the prad tests. If I had to go I would choose the IPS monitor but again, I play too many FPS.

The Benq G2400WD it is ... Perhaps later this year I'll switch but for now I'll have to pick this one

Thanks for the tips

Yeah but, 100lbs, hard to get a good one these days.

Bigger and about the same as the BenQ.

if you want the best, it's worth tracking one down. LCD people can go on all day about how their IPS are so much better than TN blah blah blah. FW900 makes the best LCD look like crap. I understand they're huge and heavy and require a lot of time to find one for sale. But you don't want the best gaming screen if you're willing to settle for an LCD. That's like me posting saying I want the best steak I can get at Sizzler. It's still Sizzler so who cares?

As an FW900 owner, I completely agree.

The question of max res was asked, which I believe is 2304x1440 80hz, with other resolution as as high as 160hz. 1600x900 125hz.

I have a 22 inch lcd as well, though it is not even capable of sustaining an arguement with the Sony FW900 crt.

I would give my right leg to find one in my area, when I see them on Ebay the shipping always kills the deal. I never move my monitor so it's big ass size and super weight means nothing. I have a 22" CRT and it not being wide screen is my only problem with it.

I vow to one day find an FW900 locally on Craigslist.
