24 hour fitness has a gym membership for $1100 for 3 years full access around the country, and after that it is only $99 per year. If you have 2 people to join, it is only $600 for membership. Have 4 people to join, and pay $300-400 for 3 years. A good deal if you can find some people to join with you.

24 Hour fitness is around America. The question is do all the people joining have to be from the same location.

Yep. 24 Hour Fitness likes to tie their customers in for a long time. After the initial investment for 3 years, they will let you extend the membership for a relatively nominal annual fee. The problem is that most people don't last the full 3 years and they make out like bandits.

wait, it is $600 for each membership when 2 are purchased, or is it one at $600 and one at $1100? also, is this the membership good only at one location or at all locations? does this membership include the classes and babysitting, or is it just weight room? also, where did you find it, is there a link?

Is there a website that shows where the locations are?

And do they have raquetball courts?

24hr fitness has both sports clubs and fitness clubs. I think this deal applies to only fitness clubs (weights, aerobics, etcs). You might have to get another membership to access the Sport clubs (raquetball, basketball, swimming, etc).

A 'family' plan is available. Just talk with someone from 24 hour fitness for the details. Im not sure if everyone (4 people max) needs to have the same address, but i have a plan with them. 3 years, i paid 400 or so, 89 a year thereafter. I have access to all types of clubs (including sport) in southern california; except the ones with valet parking.

The way the deal works, its a little over a grand for up to 4 people for 3 years. So you need 3 other people to maximize the deal.

it is $600 each per person if 2 people sign up or around $350 each if 4 people sign up at once. this is for the sport membership which is access to everything at any location worldwide. you dont have to have the same address to qualify for the family plan. two of my friends signed up. also, they have babysitting and classes for free. it is available in any location. i would love to sign up w/ 3 other people if you live in the San Francisco, Bay Area.

Funny, i just came from a 24hr Fitness club over here and they were selling this Advanced plan thingy like they were selling a car! I hate it when they just pressure prospective customers like that.

Anyway, that advanced plan comes out to around 2100$/18 sessions or something (of course u can work out anytime.. advanced just means u get personal trianing)

Here's the kicker, when i asked about the "lower" plans they actually have one that's around $20/mo with no set-up fees and such. I'd take that one anytime... i dont need a personal trainer to tell me what to do.

Rootaxs,

You hit the nail right on the head. This is exactly why I didn't join. Their deal changed constantly. By the time I left the gym after meeting with the sales person, I was more confused than when I went in. I felt like I was trying to buy a used car and I should have worn ratty sneakers and a hat.

The $20/month was probably restricted to only the location you joined. Fine by me as long as I don't move or change jobs.

Evilution, I'm in Daly City, and I was actually looking into getting membership with them. E-mail me, and we can figure out how to get a group deal going.

I was actually just going to go down and listen to the high-pressure sales pitch since I want a membership. I tried calling for information and had to refuse to give my phone number "in case we get disconnected" four times!

Anyways -- I am going to probably get a membership in the Seattle area so if anyone else in that area wants to join tell me. (A new 24-hour fitness is opening very soon in downtown Seattle.)

You're right, those sales people are commisioned so they don't always give you their best deal right away. Kinda like haggling a car deal. Really high pressure, really bad experience in general. Take advantage of their greed! When I first joined, they wanted a ton of money upfront as well, but the sales guy took my name down and waited until several others with 'similar' last names wanted memberships. Now we're one big happy family. Be warned, their clubs are incredibly crowded between 5-8pm. Only moderately clean. If you live in CA, have a look at LA fitness first. Much classier place for similar price. Forget about Bally's....total cheesy meat market.

does anyone know of any other good fitness/exercise place that is relatively cheaper? 24hr fitness seems quite expensive to me...

I'm going to head over to the 24-hour Fitnes in Daly City tomorrow to check the details with some of their representatives. (Awesome location! Swimming pool, 2 weight rooms, basketball/volleyball court, sauna & steam room, and all the regular Nautilus equipment) Anyone in the SF Bay Area interested in setting up a group deal, e-mail me at FUB_AssMan@onebox.com.

$1100 is quite a bit though, unless you're really a workout freak who goes everyday. But i already get free membership, without any restrictions at all. 24 fitness offers my school free membership to all varisty teams.
