I will have a 24 hours layover in Paris this week and will be staying near the airport. Any tips on the best way to/from town and some good sites to vist?

Charles de Gaulle is pretty far outside of the city, but I guess 24 hours is a long time. Gonna get a hotel room?

Already have one booked. I will arrive at 10:00 am and won't fly out until 10:00 next morning, so I'll have few hours to explore the city. From what I understand there is a direct train service from CDG to the city.

If you are the least bit interested in art type stuff you have to hit the Louvre even with 24 hours you wouldn't even touch half the stuff in that place.

take the subway to ile de la cite, see notre dame, walk to the louvre, go across the river to the orsay, walk back across the river, through the tuileries garden and up the champs elysees to the arc de triomphe (be sure to take a good at la defense from there), and then walk over to trocadero and then down the hill to the eiffel tower and the champs de mars

that'd take the better part of a day depending on how much time you spend in the museums.

depending on when you get into the city you could have lunch at a cafe on boulevard saint germain in the left bank.

You don't need a visa to visit France.

OP, there is too much to see in Paris for 24 hours, pick a few of the most popular places and check them out, though don't bother with the Eiffel Tower or Louvre. Too much time spent in lines and waiting.

IMO, if I had 24 hrs, I'd probably just go to Versailles for the day. It's truly beautiful.

I would just walk along the Seine, around Notre Dame, and just take in the sights. I think you would be ill advised to try and rush to a museum or something like that. Just walk around and enjoy what many (including myself) think is one of the coolest cities.

If you like falafels/shawarmas, then you MUST go to Jus Du Falafel.. A short 20 minute walk from Notre Dame. Or get off the metro at the Port Royal stop.

Please bring one back for me please

CDG is an absolutely nightmarish airport. I just flew through it on my way from Helsinki to SFO. Make sure you have PLENTY of time before the flight. I am not kidding - they are super-deficient with their checks. I had to go through 3 different security and check-in lines, and it took me 2.5 hours from disembarking the Helsinki plane to boarding plane to Charlotte. Not fun.

My usual walk is Eiffel - Arc of Triumph - Champs - Louvre... took me about 6 hours last time not including the time in the Louvre.

For 24 hours, there would be too much guy to 1 girl ratio for any man to endure this rental.

Great stuff. OP, follow this advise and you won't be disappointed.

There is a direct train from CDG to the city, BTW. Pretty straightforward.
