Any insight as to why they are pricing it lower then the 244T?
Prices are always trending lower. It is not surprising to see lower MSRP on newer model. Of courses, real-world prices of the 244T are going to fall starting just before the 245T is released.

I also expect that lower price for the 245T will drive down prices of the Dell 2407, which also uses a Samsung panel.

Pricing-wise, Samsung seems to want to be Buick to Dell's Chevrolet.

I would have really liked to see a more affordable Dell equivalent to Samsung's 215TW, using to same panel.

Speaking of which, we know that Samsung has just released a TN 24-inch panel

Yet, there is still no announcement about a monitor using this panel. I would not bet against a Dell E248WFT. (I have already googled it and no...not yet...)

A 24-inch TN will possibly have severe viewing angle problems, but will help put downward pressure on the prices of better (IPS-MVA-PVA) 24-inch monitors

I'm trying to reduce our energy budget in our current house, and monitors are something I'm looking into replacing in a few places.

That one looks... fantastic.

what!! monitors don't consume much power. they consume less that lamp you have on 24/7

Yup. They don't consume /that/ much power. But CRTs do get hot. And I live somewhere where a significant amount of my power budget is spent on cooling the house. Considering that, unlike a lot of Anandtech-ers, I don't buy TVs and monitors every couple of years, it /is/ something I think about, since it's a long term investment for me. I have a monitor that's going dodgy, and if I can find a more efficient monitor to use for the next seven to ten years that isn't as hot as this one, I'll go for it.
