I just got this monitor 3 days ago and I tought I finally found a 24" monitor that I like, untill I found annoing problem with it.
When playing games it goes to HDMI power saving mode and you can not get of of it. My resolution 1680x1050, power saving options are off in windows. Any ideas what is going on here?

I forgot to add that I'm connected with HDMI to DVI cord, also LG CS told me to switch to VGA cable or lower my resolution. WTF!!!

Got tired of dealing with the DVI/hdmi issues. The LG went back to the store, 24" Dell is on order from Costco for 569$, hopefully will be less of a hassle.

melijak,

don't go dell 2407wfp-hc route. i got tired of ghosting on dell 2407wfp-hc and got tired of waiting on Dell support forum's administrator - ChrisM for resolution as to what steps dell would take for replacement or flashing the firmware and returned dell 2407wfp-hc A00, made in Mexico in Jul 2007. I got LG from circuit city i understand your frustration with annoying power saving mode but it is still minor compared to Dell's fucked up ghosting issues. I have tried Dell 2407WFP A02 (non HC) before and went back to my old 19" sony lcd in less then two weeks and then recently ordered HC with the thought that dell fixed issues but with no avail. LG by far the best. I haven't tried BenQ though but i can't stand that company just by reading the fact on review sites that they're not going to fix overscan issue for North American consumers and PIP feature doesn't work with two digital inputs at same time.

have you tried PC mode as opposed to Video mode on LG?

Well, this is why I would not buy a monitor that requires an adapter to hook your PC to it. Personally HDMI is alot of trouble for me. So many incompatabilities and annoyances.

I was using the PC mode and for two days it was fine, after that I couldn't play any game longer than 10 min. I will give DELL a try.

melijak,

since you have the monitor for few days now, let me ask you this: Are you seeing any blur with text or experiencing any kind of clarity/sharpness issues with text? I had opportunity to put Dell 2407WFP-HC and LG L246WP-BN side by side before I returned Dell and I did notice little blur specially text on bright backgrounds. Dell was little better that way but again colors are much better on LG. I am sure if LG was my first choice I wouldn't be typing this. have you tried LG with different cable DVI to HDMI? I have 6ft 24AWG gold plated from monoprice.com, not that I see any difference in quality but just a thought. I don't have PS3 and I use my Samsung DLP TV for XBOX so i haven't tried monitor with any other sources and may be thats one of the reasons i like LG more then Dell.

I did not try different cable, but since I was able to play every game at resolution up to 1280x800, it did not seem to me the cable was at fault here. I don't have high hopes for Dell either, but I can return it easily to Costco. I currently have Viewsonic VX2025 and the clarity /sharpness is so much better on it than LG. I don't know why Viesonic can't make 24" monitor just like this one. I liked the LG even with lesser sharpness though, the games looked spectacular. What other choices in 24" monitors that I can pick up in the store or easily return are there?

there is not much left for you to pick up in stores. not sure about panel inside the brand new HP w2408 available all over the place, but i am afraid it has cheap TN panel. have you looked into viewsonic vx2435wm, with no ergonomics options at all otherwise great MVA panel but not sure if it is readily available in stores. then again if you decide to go that route, then should try BenQ F241W.
