In the markget to get a bigger monitor. I was looking at a 22" LG but decided to take a look at something bigger. Anything other than the Dell or should I just get the Dell.
I do not want to spend over $650. Monitor mostly for general use with some games mostly strategy.

I personally have a second gen acer 24in widescreen that I am VERY happy with. I spent about $700 or so 1+ year ago.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with ANY of the 24inch monitors out these days.

One can wrong with certain 1920x1200 displays; you linked to basically the worst 24" LCD out there
(That Samsung is a TN, & on displays on that size, color shifting due to the terrible viewing angles becomes insanely bad. I know, i see that one at work every day...)
There's also a 28" Viewsonic that's dirt cheap; avoid like the plague [that is TN panels]...

But aside from a couple bad ones, most are indeed good.

Aside from the Dell (which is good), the LG 245/246 might be worth checking out, as well as the BenQ 241s.

TheStuck, welcome to the forums

Don't know what i am talking about?
Read up, as knowledge is good to have when it comes to LCDs, since specs you see advertised don't tell much at all.

The BenQ FP214W is at the top of my list right now. The NEC 2470WNX looks promising as well.

Pretty much same comment as n7 That samsung is big no-no: Only TN monitor in bunch. And TN has to sux on 24" due to poor viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical.

I have Samsung 20" 1600x1200 and I know how bad viewing angles are.

Thanks. I have been lurking but never posting.

Thanks guys for the help. I probably should have put down that I have already looked over the entire LCD thread and LCD buyer's Guide (or at least 50 most recent pages). It seemed in most of those threads they talked about only 22" monitors. I aslo checked out Hardforum's display section.

I am probably going to get the Dell. I am not going to buy for a little while now. Hopefully with the new line of 24" Dells, a price cut will happen with the older version. I do not watch many movies on the computer or play with photoshop much so 92% NTSC is not a major advantage.

I got the NEC 2470 last month and could not be happier with it. Great color, wide viewing angles, no need for calibration it is set to go straight out of the box. My favorite games are FPSs and I have not seen any blur/smearing in the fast moving scenes. Text is sharp and clear. This is my first LCD so I don't have any other monitor to compare it to but this seems flawless to me.
The downside, it costs $800 delivered from Newegg. But it just plain works.
Highly recommended.

Personally I recommend the BenQ although, I don't have the A04 version of the Dell.

I have a Dell 2407 and it's great so far. I was wondering, though, if anyone knows anything about its HDCP compliance. Is it true that it's still not compliant over DVI? I can't seem to find much recent info about that. Is it even an issue? I don't have anything hi-def yet, but would like to in the future.

Only thing keeping me from getting a Dell 2407 is the input lag. It would drive me nuts in an FPS game. Oh and I already own a S-IPS 2007 that is great. Next step will probably just be straight to a 32" HDTV (no point in the 3007 when it costs more, is smaller, and has only DVI inputs).

There a new version of 2407 coming out and will be the same price supposedly.

I would wait, just a little bit longer:

I am pretty sure the 2407 is HDCP compliant.

If you find one of the excellent deals that are common with Dell 2407WFP jump on it because they are still excellent monitors!(heck the current price is great) Otherwise the BenQ is better, but you sure will $$$ for it.

BenQ!

benqshopper.com - the refurb outlet from the manufacturer. Awesome deal, I got a 24" FP241w that looks and works like it's brand new, and they give you a 90 day warranty and all new accessories.

I paid ~$480 shipped. It's an AMAZING deal, just make sure they're in stock before you order, or you will be waiting, or face a cancelation fee.

WOW!! I can get that for $468 with shipping.

So no problems at all? I have no experience with factory refurb anything. Any opinions?

What are the input lags like on the BenQ and Dell ? I am also hunting for a good quality 24 and that seems to be the biggest con on screens this size.

The Dell 2407WFP-HC is coming out very soon. I'd hold out for that. It's a pretty good monitor and the HC version is supposed to be better.

I really appreciate my Dell 2407WFP.

I have had it for about six months and I use it for computer and also connected to HD Cable box to view HD television signal.

Simply fabulous.

The Dell 2407-HC has a completely new AU Optronics A-MVA panel ( HERE), completly unrelated to the Samsung S-PVA panel in the regular 2407
