Use MS cashback and a 30 off 150 or 40 off 200 coupon (from fleabay) to sweeten the deal further...though I'm not sure if any of these discounts conflict with each other.

Be careful with soyo's monitors. I bought 2 of these on the last sale about a month ago and had to take both of them back because of washed out colors. The replacements did the same thing.
Not sure whats happened with soyo lately but it seems they have some serious quality issues.

I love my Soyo. I bought it refurbed and it works flawlessly. Sucks that some people's results vary.

So far im unsure what display it is.

I have a 24" Soyo that I bought from Office Max about a year ago and have loved mine. Picture looks great and no dead pixels.

I picked up one of these B&M when they had the last sale ($229+tax B&M only, not all stores). Keep in mind this 24" is the Pearl series, which is different than the Topaz that a lot of people might be referring to. It was the last one they had on the shelves. No dead pixels, but it did have 2 stuck pixels. I managed to get them fixed for the most part, but one of them comes back every now and then and has to be fixed again. Overall happy with the monitor though, especially at the price.

I read what all of the doomsayers on SD and FW had to say, and honestly, I don't think I'd worry about TN vs P-MVA for about $200 when all is said and done. I ordered one, and it should be about a free upgrade from my 22" TN if I end up selling that.

There is nothing wrong with the new one. i got mine a couple of weeks ago for $279 and used a OM coupon. It is an excellent LCD and there are Zero stuck pixels.

One thing i have noticed. Viewing angles are 178/170 - much better than my older TN - 160/160 - Samsung 20.1" 16x10 panel [which has a new home, btw]. It is superior in every way to the Samsung LCD except for the black [which is still very good and i haven't even bothered with the settings except the brightness ]

and i believe you can return it if there are any stuck pixels

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soyo_Group_Inc

Soyo Group, inc. is a Taiwan-based electronics company. Established in 1985, Soyo manufactures many consumer electronic items including LCD televisions and bluetooth communication devices. Soyo manufactures PC components as well, including motherboards, portable storage devices, and various input adaptors.

Soyo, under the leadership of Stephen Davies, was a leader in the European motherboard market in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but has since ceased production of much of their popular Dragon brand motherboards in favor of diversifying into the LCD television market.

I remember when Soyo made good mobo's. I think they are just running on their name nowadays.

I wonder what the source of this comment is - there was only one negative comment in this thread (along with a number of very positive ones) and the vast majority of Soyo monitor comments I have read in a variety of HD threads over the last year have been positive, as has my own experience. The Soyos may not be the best monitors out there, but they seem pretty good, especially for the price...

i just got one from my local store. One on the ad is the newer model and it was out but had an older one (Topaz S). They were able to do substitution (thus paying the same price as a model in the ad) for the topaz model for me.

*All* LCD brands are "just running on their names nowadays" - they're outsourced to a few factories in China & Taiwan, using no unique technologies. When there is a difference in build quality, it gets put down to that particular model, not all units of that brand.

I got this monitor several weeks ago when OM had it for $230 and it's been an excellent upgrade from my 20" Samsung.

I got one in store for 250 and mine is perfect. Washed out? Yes out of the box, calibrated and all is ducky. Huge...

Last black Friday Fry's and Staples both had 24-inchers for $250 + tax. I'm expecting 24" to be ~$200 this BF.

I got a 26" soyo, as far as the last five 25.5~28" TN and PVA LCD I've owned, I would have to say Soyo is the best, too bad the overdrive isn't strong enough

At first it will seem a bunch larger then you get used to it and long for a 30" which will do the same thing and soon your 65" commercial plasma seems smaller than you would like. If only the Panasonic 150" didn't cost $150,000. It has a native resolution of 4096 by 2160. It never ends never ends it's like CPU speeds.

Lol, that is so true. I started out with a 15" then I went up to 17" then 19" then 22" now I want a 24" or a 26" and soon it'll be a 30". Same thing with my TV it's 58" but now it seems smaller than it was when I got it.
