What kind of video card would you need to handle its resolution?
I am looking at the 2005FPW or 2405 for later this year. I have a sturdy desk. I am not sure about the power consumption of something like that though.

Well, you don't have to play at its native resolution for it to look good, which is something that's nice about CRTs.

I know my 6600gt wouldn't do very well at 1920x1200, but I don't expect to game that high.

I have one of these that I recently got, it's awesome. There's a slight white band running down the middle of my screen but it's oddly only noticable in rare circumstances, and never in a game or during a movie. It seems to be fading the longer I use it so I hope it'll go away eventually.

It might be worth it for you to purchase a vga>bnc cable because from what I understand the text will be slightly sharper at higher resolutions.

Source is beautiful on this monitor.

I use the bnc5 cable bundled with the monitor, i cant really see the different but since lots of sources said it should look better so i use it. it also look more elegant and more professional. anyway bncs are not component.
list from the best

bnc5 (rgb +hs+vs) - vertical and horizontal sync
bnc4 (rgb +s) - composite sync
bnc3 (rgsb) - composite sync signal in green also called "sync on green"
yp(rb) - component with hd signal - lumina+red+blue
yc(rb) - component - lumina+red+blue

I got one via the electronic direct sales in Dallas. Had someone pick it up for me since they were in Dallas. Wish I would have done it myself. I got the HP model. Which has an ugly beige/white casing. Not nearly as nice looking as the Sony model
Still having to play around with the settings to get good picture. OP-would you mind telling me what color settings you are using?

Anyone else who has this monitor please feel free to chime in with your settings.

Go into your color options on your monitor, and do the image restoration. That made my monitor look WAY better. Give it a try.

Yeah, I would get one myself if I hadn't just gotten a new monitor a few months ago. My older 21" shadow mask has suddenly started to become blurry over the last week, so I may actually need a replacement for that soon, but I only use that computer for occasional legacy gaming so an FW900 would be kind of overkill for it.

It really needs the dynamic mode though. I've gotten used to the equivalent of that on mine and FPS games look ugly without it now.

sheElf: I did and I've done several settings changes. However, my 7yr old Optiquest V95 has a better picture when viewing desktop Ascent wallpaper than my GDM. I'll try the image restoration.
Just curious to see what settings everyone else has.

Just got mine. WOW! I'm not as amazed by the picture quality as I am the size, but that may just have to do with the stock video settings. I'll have to configure them later... What surprises me was that it worked when I set the video settings to 2304x1440 (wide) in World of Warcraft. As far as I know, my video card's maximum is only 2048x1440.

wow you got a great deal on it..
I use the exact same one at work. My boss got the refurb one from azatek for $600.
It's ok. The first one was in great physical condition, however the horizontal lines would be very blurry with the brightness turned to medium levels.
I returned it due to this. The replacement is a bit better in that area.. but there IS NO anti glare coating. So it's like a big mirror when I'm looking at a dark screen. Great for narcissists to check themselves out every now and then while they're on the computer.
So what brightness/contrast setting are you using?

Meh. I'm pushing 2304x1440 in WoW, Biatch.

(Sorry if I'm sounding rude, but I'm still excited!)

Im using the 6500k color setting ,I was used to this on my previous 21" G520P so that was the first thing I changed on the FW900. 9300k looks to 'blue' after using 6500k for awhile, I also read 6500k is the most accurate color setting. After it warmed up (30+ minutes) I used the Image Restore option as well, Theres a ton of manual color adjustments but havent messed with them yet.

Hey, JRW. Do you know where I can find some kind of online calibration page with test patterns I could use?
