I can plug my Xbox's component inputs into it directly?! Awesome!!
For those wondering, I already have a Infocu X1 projector.

And while there is no comparison size, (I've gotton up to 150") it's limited by resolution (800x600) and needs a dark room. So I really just wanted a better monitor for normal everyday use. (I'm using a 17" NEC right now) This just thrills me. I'm getting my Sony 900 tomorrow!! I just hope it doesn't break my back getting it in... >_<
I'm not sure... but I think that might be for 5x BNC connections.

I have never used those before though so I don't know much about them.
Component straight in might work... but if I had to take a guess I'd think it wouldn't work.
Hmmm... Interesting... However RGB has offtend refered to the red, greend and blue plugs for a component cable. I can just imagine playing some of my Xbox titles in 720p. ....Or 360 titles.

Ya the BNC inputs are pretty useless on the monitor, you could use something like this to convert a Component input to VGA.

I imagine VD and HD are verticle and horizonal signals that it needs.

Just my luck to get a lemon. I still can't get the geomtry right. I can fix one edge, but it messes the other up beyond belief. And I know for a fact that it reset my settings as when I turned it off last night it was running in widescreen with 1280x768. But when I logged on it was 4x3 at 1024x768. (With all color settings warped back to their default, read lousy levels)

Are u sure it resets the settings. bare in mind unlike lcd, crt needs to warm up before u can see its true potential, same goes to fw900. it normally takes 20-30 mins and u know its optimised when "image restoration" function is available. eventually u will get back your picture settings.
But if the settings are way off as yours, i think there is something wrong with your monitor.

My FW900 had a slight green tint to the black levels when I first got it (Noticed it on the black backround of the WinXP boot logo on startup) but after letting it warm up I did the Image Restore option and it fixed it ,A couple years back I noticed this on my G400 and I was told to turn up the Brightness (Not contrast) slightly higher than you normaly would and THEN hit image restore to eliminate any green tint problems, after its done lower the brightness back to whatever you like, it worked on my G400 and now the FW900 , not sure how image restore actualy does its thing but its a great feature for maintaining your monitors color accuracy.
EDIT: I was curious if any of you FW900 owners could try this or have noticed what Im seeing, whenever my monitor goes into standby mode ( I have it set to shutoff after 20 minutes ) The "Monitor is Working" box appears in the midddle of the screen for around 5 seconds before the monitor actualy shuts off , ive never had a monitor behave this way ,usualy they just go black right when going into standby..its no big deal was just curious if its a FW900 thing. Quick way to test this is to set the monitor to shutoff after 1 minute. Power settings are located in display properties / screen saver / power.

The 5 BNC connectors on the back are for R G B H V signals. I didn't see anything in the manual for this monitor that states that these inputs are dual-purpose and support both RGB ( YPbPr ) and RGBHV. for instance. My two-year-old HDTV RPTVs inputs supports both modes depending on whether it detects a signal from HV or not. I don't think it will hurt the CRT to find out, but you could connect the xBox component cable and find out.
You will need some of these if the xBox cable uses RCA. You can find these locally at Radio Shack or any electronics hobbiest store for about $3 a piece ( gold-plated are more ). Here is a link of what I am referring to. Get gold-plated if you can.

I was running my desktop at the 16x10 verson of 1024x768, 1280x768. But while my monitor was big enough to make 1280x960 look "normal" and not too small it didin't have a widescreen varient so I made one with powerstrip. Now running 1536x960 @86htz.

To be honest with you i dont thing it will work, component and RGB send different signal.
1. most monitors require sync signal either separate hor and ver or composite (hor+ver) or even composite sync through green signal. that's why we have RGBHV, RGBs and RGsB
2. RGB send red, green, blue and sync signals while component send lumina and chromina (mind the spelling). lumina for white and black signal (green cable). chromina red(Cr/Pr) and blue(Cb/Pb) red and and blue cables respectively.
the only way to convert component signal to vga (rgb) is by using transcoder and then u can output then on monitor.

You're right it didnt work ,only cost me $3.75 for the 3 connectors at least. Guess we'll have to stick with VGA adapters its just to bad the FW900 doesnt have dual VGA inputs like my 21" G520P.

Actually fw900 has 2 vga inputs but only in different form, hd15 and bnc5. search ebay for bnc and u'll find lots of adapter cable for it.
