Central NJ: $100. I found 4 of them in the store (2 w/ plastic straps around the box, 2 w/o. The plastic straps make it much easier to lift the box). I brought printouts of Evadman's digital pics and showed it to 2 Assistant Managers (the store manager wasn't in). They both said they don't compete w/ other Wal-Marts so they wouldn't honor the Chicagoland area price. They also said that each Walmart has its own in-store clearance items from time to time. I found out though from one of the Assistant Managers that there's a clearance sale starting this Saturday, however he claims he doesn't know what's going on sale.

Since only 4 were around, I decided to risk it and buy one anyway. If it goes on sale, I need only come back w/ my receipt to get my price difference refund. If it doesn't go on sale, I'll simply return it. (Kind of a pain in the ass though because this thing is huge. I had to bungee cord my trunk door shut. :disgust:

For those who want to call their local Wal-Marts before doing what I did:
[*]SKU # (as listed on box): 0 76174 85702 3
[*]Item # (as listed on box): 001197032
[*]Receipt Product #: 007617485702

*EDIT* Corrected Receipt Product # (from 007616... to 007617...)

Ok, these toolboxes are from the department I work in, hardware We have about 20 of these still and they are only clearanced at $100. They will be dropping but it will not be this saturday. YMMV because walmarts will absolutely positively pricematch another walmart period. We had just a handfull of these and then stores in the area swapped and we got stuck with all of these to mark down.

Saturday Walmart Sales: Tons of markdowns in all areas of clothing (Spring/summer stuff needs room and winter clothing is out) and there will be markdowns in domestics which is all the towels, curtains, etc. As to how much the markdowns will be, I do not know that. These are corporate markdowns so the prices should be similar for all walmart stores.

I went to look at them tonight. Still $100, but I wouldn't pay even $50 personally. They're basically a little tool set with some cheapo chests/drawers. I'm going to hold out for a good deal on some real tool chests from Sears

Is there an official Walmart policy (preferable a WRITTEN POLICY) that you can obtain for me which verifies this? I was told by 2 Assistant Managers at my local Wal-Mart that they DO NOT compete with other Wal-Marts. Thanks.

The Walmart near me has the price matching policy posted on a big sign hanging near the front door.

I kinda doubt that as there were no other signs that I saw that were missing numbers, but anything is possable *shrugs*. Anyone else find one for $50?

Update:

When I was at my local Wal-Mart last night, one of the CSRs gave me the phone # of the Wal-Mart District Office (WDO) for my area. While still there, I called the District Office (after regular business hrs) and left a detailed message w/ what was going on (mentioned the digital pics, gave the SKU #, etc.)

Today I received a call from a 3rd Asst. Manager of my local Wal-Mart (i.e. a different asst. manager than the two I spoke w/ last night) in response to my call to the WDO. She told me that the official clearance price on the product at this time is $100. Then she went on to explain that each Wal-Mart store has some type of "STORE BUCKS" (I forgot the actual term she used) that can be applied to products to further discount them. That was the reason why (according to her) the Chicagoland Wal-Mart has the Toolkit available for $50.

With the above said, she's making good on the PM: This Saturday I can buy ONE (and ONLY ONE) Toolkit @ $50 (in my case I'll be able to get a $50 refund since I paid $100 for it yesterday). Why do I have to wait until Saturday? That's when my local Wal-Mart gets replenished w/ those "STORE BUCKS" (I guess they're out of 'em at the moment). She said if she were to sell it to me before then below $100, she'd get in a lot of trouble. I can wait 'til Saturday.

Thanks Evadman for posting the Digital Pics. In my case, they appear to have allowed me to take advantage of this deal. For those interested in in trying this, my (anticipated) success above is a HUGE YMMV.

Consider yourself extremely lucky. Every store has so many dollars alloted towards in store markdowns. We can only use what they allow and nothing more.

That explains why I've been authorized to buy EXACTLY ONE Toolkit @ $50.

Walmart is the wierdest store in regards to clearance items. A local Walmart has a 3 year old Tivo 14 hour standalone still priced at $250 clearance! That was the new price!! I would give them $25, but they won't mark it down any more!!!

Update:

Per my previous post, I went to my local Wal-Mart today for my $50 refund (plus sales tax) on my $100 purchase of this Tool-Kit. Got the refund as promised. Hopefully others interested in this deal were able to capitalize on my previously posted info.
