Strang Findings I've seen

WEEK 0348 2500+ are IQYFA
WEEK 0348 2400+ are IQZFA

WEEK 0349 2400+ AND 2500+ are both IQZFA

Seems to me that the IQZFA is the newest stepping seen but why does the lower speed grade/speed chip have the newer core before the higher speed grade chip, I've seen WEEK 0347 2400+ than have the IQZFA core also.

They sent me a week 50 IQYHA (2400+)...no idea what it can do as I don't have the memory for my machine yet.

One question.

Since these chips are not multiplier locked, will they work in a board with out multiplier settings ?

Specifically, I have an old ECS motherboard (from a Fry's special last year) and wonder if I could pop in one of these 2400+ and have it run cooler/faster than the current 1700+.

I'm not concerned about overclocking on this system, but if it runs cooler I can use a quiter fan.

If you cannot change the multiplier manually in the bios then you would probably have to do a physical mod to change the multiplier - i.e. cut the bridges or the 'ol wire trick. someone else here can probably elaborate..

The default FSB for these mobile chips is 266. Do I need to get those boards supports 400 FSB to do good oc or those w/ 333 FSB can do it too?

I'm confused. I took the part number for the 2400 and ran it through froogle. About a half-dozen websites listed the chip, and they all said it was 333FSB. So what's REALY the default FSB?

DAMN this is soooo tempting.. Prices just dropped on the 2500+ and 2600+. Down to $99 and $108 now. 2400+ is still a very hard to resist $77.

Probably getting a 24 & a 26. Anything interesting about the 25 that might tempt me to go for the hat trick?

I'm buying an NF7-S mb. Do I have to do an L12 mod to get this board and a mobile 2400 to play nice at FSB above 200 to 210?

on a side note, this thread made me think about undervolting so i decided to see how low my locked fry's combo barton would run at 3200xp level. sure enough, it's running right now with 1.6 volts, that's even less than it's default. i wonder how low i can drop it tho

It wasn't me but I wish it was, as I had it in my basket but it and the others went OOS........

I have an unlocked Barton 2500+ and a Moblie 2400+ and love them both.

They talked to my cat about a 5000+

That's great. I heard Mike Tyson talked to your mom too. But wait... that really doesn't have anything to do with our conversation does it? Oh well... your worthless comment deserves to be in company.

The 4000+ was reported in this issue of CPU mag (the one Anand is featured in) for those of you that may be mentally challenged and can't fathom it, or for those of you who are mentally about 5 years old and need to post worthless comments instead of just asking for sources like an adult would.

and its real plausible that they would come out with a 4000+ when they don't have an (athlon) 3400+ nor a 3600+ or a 3800+

the fastest model out is 2.333GHz

"Your mom! Ooooooohhhhh!"

The mobile 2400 is a smoking deal for anybody with a good nforce, kt400 or 600 board with good ram who wants more horses out of their computer. I would be on this if I hadn't pickup a 2600 last month.

Maybe you can quit being such a tool and read what I typed. Where did I say it was being released? What is your deal, do you enjoy being a tool or what? I said talking to partners because that is what has been reported. If you think that is the same as being released go stick your head in the toilet and get out of this thread.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the differance between a "Mobile" and a normal 2500+ barton? Does it just run cooler allowing a larger overclock? or?

they weren't talking to partners about it unless it was about an AMD64 based 4000+

you misunderstood what you read

What's the stepping and where are you at?

I'll get back to this after I upgrade the mobo on Saturday. My Shuttle AN35N Ultra won't hit FSB speeds I need to call it a day.
