Only stable up to 2.3GHz @ <=1.85V. Considering poor result, won't even bother with higher V, think it'll go in an older board as 2.25GHz @ 1.725V.

Problem is definitely CPU. Same board/power/memory/FSB/'sink/etc was previously running a T'Bred @ 2.5GHz, 1.8V. At least I don't feel bad about it, suspected it'd be sub-par because it was a refurb... can't complain about a 2.25G Barton for $57

Edit: Tried a different board with finer voltage adjustment capability (a POT on the 'fet controller) and squeezed 2.4 out of it @ 1.86V, nothing more @ 1.96, doesn't look like it'll go much higher on air.

heat. heat. heat. stupid heatsink/fan (CoolerMaster Jet 7) (45 bucks for it from newegg) - maybe i Need to establish better airflow in my case or buy a refrigerant to put in the system to make it cooler. However, it cools great, it's the case and the house temp that's a beach.

Anyway, my CPU (2400+ Mobile) overclocked right out of box at 2.2 GHz (3200+ speed) - got it going with 11x200 @ 1.675v and memory (Corsair ValueSelect 333 Mhz) overclocked to 200 MHz, which gives me sync mem and cpu. The temp is comfortable at nighttime, averaging around 35 deg celsius diode, however it gets high as 43 on idle during the day (stupid small house / heating circulation in here - thin wall, I think) - 49 was the highest stress load temp I ever got out of this system, which definitely makes me avoid any more overclocking until I get an air conditioning system installed. Sigh. At least it's a nice 400 MHz overclock.

Prime 95 partially stable, since I only tested for 8 hours and turned off the program after a while. *shrugs*. Will do some more testing soon, maybe tmw.

im at 2.2 ghz at 11x200 at 1.725v idles at about 41c, i have a heatsink that was linked in this post somewhere, designed by thermaltake. but i need ram badly. im running ddr2700 and only 256 mb of it, so I want another stick to run dual channel.

geez.
my Epox 8K5A2+ doesnt seem to like it.
or maybe WinXP doesnt like it? blue screens with "HARDWARE ERROR. CONTACT HARDWARE VENDOR"
how mean.
it seems to boot fine, but wont install windows, or boot an existing installation, even at only 800mhz.

in a few minutes here i'll try it on my parents 8K5A2. but if its an incompatability with this board, i guess that wont help. but the board is supposed to be compatable.

im gettin an Nforce 2 board anyhow. but i only have 7 days to check the chip before i'm SOL...so here goes.

UPDATE: hrmph. well this chip is doing 2.25ghz in their system without breaking a sweat.
i guess my mobo is just fubar'd. owell, it runs the 1600+ just fine...so it can be a backup/crash box.

OR MAYBE NOT: thought things were fine on my parents 8K5A2...then it gave the same blue screen error. at no point had this chip even hit 45C. tried it at default voltage/speed and errors still.

I hope this is just your board. I also have an 8K5A2+ and just ordered the 2400. There is a bios update for this board dated last month (or within the last few months). Did you try that first?

Just to join the fun, I got the 2400+ to replace the 1600+ in a Shuttle AN35 Ultra. Without much effort, I am running with this setting:
133x16.5=2200Mhz at 1.55v.

I know I can go higher but I won't bother until I upgrade my RAM to DDR400.

By the way, my Kingston value ram actually was stable at DDR333 running Sandra burn in. But it failed Prime95 after only a few minutes, so I went back to DDR266.

why did you only go 133? I went 200x11 at 1.725, what would the difference be in those settings? any advantages to yours?

Of course I would like to go to DDR400, but my RAM is only DDR266(PC2100) so I can only use a clock of 133. As far as the CPU is concerned 2200 is 2200 so it should be the same. But with 200 Mhz clock your memory bandwidth is much higher so over performance would be higher.

It's actually an older stepping. I haven't seen or really heard of bad overclocks yet with this stepping. I just got mine today going to test it tomarrow. I could only get my aqyfa to 2.3ghz semi stable.I didn't want to raise voltage to much my watercooler project isn't done yet. Friends of mine have the IQYHA 0348XPMW they are getting higher clocks around 2.5 with the same voltage about 1.75.

Forgot to mention this is the same steppings people are paying over 130 on ebay for

2400+, no idea what the stepping is, running at 2.2 (200x11, 1.65v) effortlessly on an A7N8x deluxe. Running at like 50°C, though. These Lanboy cases aren't the best for cooling.

Very stable, though..

I got mine back in early February:

AXMH2400FQQ4C T818776K30144
IQZFA0347XPMW

It does 2.3ghz at 1.6V, my KT6 Delta seems to have problems adjusting the multiplier for a Mobile XP so I have to run it at 13x170

Yes, I tried 2.7v which is the highest option the board offers.

I went back and checked the bios I downloaded but haven't installed. It is dated 4/7/2003. I guess I was thinking 2004 instead of 2003. I'll check, but I think my current bios is the 9/16/03 one, too, though I can't find that one on Epox's site. On the recommended processor pdf from Epox, this board doesn't list the Barton as being a supported CPU because it lists the max FSB as 266, though it can run at 333 as well. I guess I'll see how well this does and then maybe look at a new mb in a few months.

Got my XP-M 2400 today:
IQYHA 0402 MPM

I will be putting it in my Epox 8rda+ tonight. I have some of that 800 lb slow ass pc 2100 ram (but I got 2x256 for $9.99 AR), which (I think) has limited my xp1700 to 12.5 x 142. I am just a noob oc'er, so we'll see what happens!

Edit:
Currently running at 11 x 200. Seems very stable. Maybe ram wasn't limiting me (above).

I started off at 11.5 x 200 and was looking good till my POS PSU went poof! Now I got an even cheaper one in, and had to switch video cards, cause this (POS#2) won't even run my 9800 AIW PRO, so I got the Ti4200 in. I'll play it safe here for a bit, till i get a real PSU.

Awesome deal, thanks OP!

Also, thanks edplayer for the tips.

You can run that motherboard in asynchronous mode. Some people will say that lowers performance, but that is only true to a point. There will be a point where the added FSB will overcome the conversion penalty. That motherboard should be able to get close to 200MHz FSB (or quite a bit over if it is a version 2.1, 2.0 or a good 1.X board). Try running it with the cpu at the highest FSB you can run it at and use the memory frequency settings to select 50%, 60% or 66% (you already know that the memory is good for something around 142MHz, just do the math).

edit: you got a great deal on that ram!
