Probably not. With a 24" widescreen you would need SLI, 7800GTX, or, if it ever comes out, Crossfire. However, if you are willing to kill most of the other graphics settings i think it would manage.

That's assuming that you run it in the 2405's native resolution. There are many widescreen resolutions out there...

I was just talking a livable resolution. I dont need the best image quality, I just want things to not be TOO jagged. Native res isnt a requirement.

Native Resolution is HIGHLY recommended for LCD. I wouldn't run mine out of Native in a game.

It runs it fine just make sure you have AA off. I've only played on the Demo though so the full game could be different. I actually have never played the game non over clocked so it might run a bit worse than how mine runs. I doubt OCing is helping my performance that much though.

Phreek, I was being sarcastic and joking. I'm sure Rollo has provided plenty of non ATI/nVidia posts. I just personally can't recall seeing one, or it's been awhile, relax. I don't see where you get that I was starting a flame at all since I didn't attack him verbally, nor did I bash ATI/nVidia. For the record, I am a nVidia fan myself, like Rollo. I just don't care for ATI but I have nothing against them.

Mark me down as another person who doesn't think the 2405 is "too big". As far as I'm concerned, this thing is the perfect size for me. I love it.

The only way this monitor would be too big is if your viewing distance is very close and can't be increased. When I upgraded from my 17" CRT, the first thing that I did was to push the 2405 back further. If I could not have moved it back, it might have been too big since I could not take in the whole monitor at once. I would have to pan from left to right - does this make sense?

I love my 2405 and would not go back to anything smaller.

You will get conficting advice about this, but the 2405 looks great running at non-native resolution. I am currently running mine at 1600X1000 since my NVIDIA 5200 will not work at 1920X1200 using DVI. I just purchased a NVIDIA 6800 so as soon as I get that hooked up, I will be going to 1920X1200 for Windows use, but still anticipate using a lower resolution for gaming. I have tried 4-5 different resolutions for the games that I currently play - Warcraft III and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and see no issues with running at non native resolution.

I don't doubt that's the case for 2d windows, but do you guys really think it's necessary for gaming? I play all sorts of games on my 1600x1200 monitor that are NOT that rez when gaming, and I haven't really noticed any sort of image problems.

I also want to get the 2405, but I'm sure my x800xl can't game at native resolution all the time, but I wasn't really worried about it. Should I be?

Back OT to OP, no, I also do not think the monitor is too big. I like the size of my 2001FP and would certainly like to go bigger. Maybe when teh 2405 hits the $600 mark. THe rate they are falling, maybe this fall.

Actually running the monitor at a non native res looks similar to running with 2xAA on in games instead of 0x. Bascailly its like free AA if you use something like 1680x1050 or 1600x1000.

Anyway, another vote for the 2405 not being too big. Will also help your posture if you tend to lean-in on a smaller screen.

I got my 2405 a couple weeks ago. At first it was a little hard but ast mentioned before it's just how you manage things. You don't need a fullscreen window of Firefox open to see a page. Instead have 2 different pages open. I can't see myself ever going back.

I have a 2405. The first few days it will seem too big, but after that you will wonder how you ever made due without the size. No hesitation, buy.

24" is as big as I am going monitor wise, if I keep my monitor at arms length. The only way I would go 30" or more, is if it was mounted on the wall, or arm.

It is very big, but it is worth it. I hate typing on my daughters "small" 20" LCD.
