Good for you.

I tried my 2005FPW on VGA and DVI, and I have to say that DVI provides an undeniably sharper, better looking image in every app I thrown on my machine.

I wand to get a 2405 panel, but I don't have the money.

I installed the X800XL, and everything looks great! I wonder why it won't let me adjust Contrast (or was it Brightness?) over the DVI port?

Probably another ATI driver bug. Shouldve gone Nvidia.

uhh lol nope not an ATI bug. That is just the point of DVI. No adjustments... You can adjust brightness throught the OSD I believe...

DVI makes adjusting Contrast unnecessary? Hmmm...

It's the OSD where the Contrast adjustment is disabled. Maybe the catalyst control center provides the adjustment?

When using DVI, the OSD is for the most part useless. All adjustments would come from the card and its drivers. You can also get a piece of software called PowerStrip that will interact with your drivers that is really handy.

Actually, I checked again and I can adjust my contrast/brightness over my DVI through my Nvidia drivers.

If your video driver doesn't list 1920 x 1200 as a valid resolution, you can add that resolution to your card and it will work fine.

I just received my 2405FPW and am using a GeForce FX 5200 card and MCE with (2) PVR-150 MCE tuner cards and an ati HD Card. The highest resolution I can get is 1600 x 1200, which still looks good, but I would like to have it at the Dell suggested 'optimum setting'. I am using the older driver from Dell, not the newest driver from Nvidia, I have tried both.

I found the setting to manually add 1920 x 1200 as a setting. Is this really safe as you suggest? Has anyone tried this?

All searches on the net come up with people unsure and so they buy a new video card. Thanks in advance. (I am scared)

It cannot hurt your screen. If anything, the video card cannot do it.

make sure the LCD driver from dell is installed.. and the latest Nvidia 72.72 drivers..
if it does not work then, add the custom res.. if it doesnt work, nothing could be hurt.. you are only really trying to get the video card to do its job.. if it works, theres no way it can hurt your screen.

I tried it and it would show a 1920 x 1200 resolution, but the right side was missing until you hovered your mouse and the screen would shift to show the rest of the right side.
Not pretty.
