2405fpw worth the money?

I have had a 2005fpw in the past and I am thinking of getting another one (I went down the crt path and my blood shot eyes will never let me walk down that path again). My question is for those that have seen a 2005fpw and 2405fpw in the flesh. Do you believe that the 2405fpw deserves the $390 price premium over the 2005fpw? The prices I am refering to are on Dell's web site as of 01/31/06. 2405fpw

Yes. Just make sure you have a high end video card to run it.

4 extra inches for $390 price premium? Ummm not worth it to me. You can buy a fast videocard, a cpu, ram, etc. You can get even get 19inch lcd on the side hehe. 2405 will also force you on upgrading your videocard a lot more often.

I love mine, but as noted I will always have to upgrade quicker then those with a 20".

So realize in the long run it will cost more then the $390 price difference.

Uhm, because you won't be able to push that 1920 x 1200 resolution in video games without upgrading EVERY new cycle. To push one with all the eye candy you have to have an SLI/Xfire machine.

I had to sell mine, I just couldn't jusitfy spending money on a new card everyear for native rez on the 2405. Im waiting for the 2007's

I currently own and use both (see my sig). For HDTV watching, the 2005fpw had grown to become a bit smaller so the 2405 has a big advantage. Otherwise the 2005fpw is still good for most of my needs. Yes 4" is diagonally huge as compared to the 2005fpw as I had the two sitting next to each other. Is it worth the money? Ask your wallet is my answer.

For your basic non-huge budget gamer which of these would be a better display? I'm using an X800 XT PE right now, so I'd hope I would have enough power to run at least the 2005FPW at native resolution (by the way, what is native on that??)

I have both, and I wouldn't go back to the 2005FPW if you paid me. Taking size out of the equation, the 2405 has a better panel, better response, doesn't have the backlight problem that the 2005 used to (I've still heard it's hit or miss if you get one with the problem or not), the media reader on the side is nice (bells and whistles at that point).

The 2405 is a better choice.

I like my 2405FPW better than my 2001FP.

1920x1200 vs. 1680x1080 (2005FPW) and 4in extra.
